Vazis Xidi
About the Winery
Vazis Xidi is a family-run winery located near Kutaisi, in western Georgia, dedicated to traditional Georgian winemaking and small-batch production.
The winery welcomes visitors for guided tours of its qvevri cellar, wine tastings, and a selection of local delicacies prepared with regional ingredients. Each experience offers an authentic introduction to Georgia’s ancient wine culture and the close connection between wine, food, and local traditions.
About the Wines
Vazis Xidi produces handcrafted wines from both renowned and rare indigenous Georgian grape varieties.
The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, while fermentation and ageing take place naturally in traditional handmade qvevri, large clay vessels crafted by artisans near Chiatura. A minimal-intervention approach and careful skin maceration allow each wine to express the distinctive character of its grape variety and territory.
The winery’s selection includes red varieties such as Ojaleshi, Saperavi, and Otskhanuri Sapere, along with white and amber varieties including Rkatsiteli, Krakhuna, Tsolikouri, Tsitska, and Khikhvi. Together, they reflect the richness and diversity of Georgia’s viticultural heritage.
