Great wines, great experience

Rate: 5 out of 5 9/1/25
The four of us - the wife, me and our boys 23/26 - drove down to the Winegut Rudolf Hoffmann one fine morning and man, were we impressed! The Google map location gets you pretty much to the doorstep, and we were greeted by Rudolf, our erudite host for the next 2 hours. The place itself is in a picturesque village, and you pass by vineyards which get you prepared for what lies ahead. We learned about vines, grapes and of course, the wines. The tasting was very well organised, the wines were great, we ended up buying a couple of our favorites. All in all, a morning very well spent. Would unhesitatingly recommend!.

About Winery and Wines

The Hoffmann family has been dedicated to good wine for 300 years. Our ancestral home was built in 1921 by Anna and Nikolaus Hoffmann.

Rudolf Hoffmann II now manages the existing winery in the third generation.

The 5 hectares are mostly planted with Riesling. Early on, we devoted ourselves to the cultivation of red wine. And produce popular "reds" on an international level.

But exotic for the Mosel, grape varieties such as Gelber Muskateller, Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer are also grown.

We regularly win international awards for our wines in various competitions.

When working in the vineyard, we combine traditional knowledge with the latest research for the cultivation of our vines.

Around the village of Detzem, our wines grow in old, valuable vineyards on very different soils.

To produce a good wine has a lot to do with the knowledge about the vine. But only with the love for the vineyards, the personal rootedness with the old, wild vines and a pronounced passion it is possible to produce extraordinary wines.

Our wines unite in themselves the play of conditions: The wine - the landscape - the people and their culture.

For generations, we have been harvesting top-class wines from valuable family-owned vineyards, with which we regularly receive high ratings in international wine competitions.
We value traditional winemaking combined with the most modern knowledge.

Our grape varieties are:

Riesling

Gewürztraminer

Pinot blanc

Chardonnay

Kerner

Muskateller

Merlot

Pinot Noir

Cabernet Sauvignon
