Zanotelli Wines
About the Winery
Among the terraces of the Cembra Valley, where the mountains meet tradition and time seems to flow more slowly, the story of Cantina Zanotelli begins. Founded in 1860, this family-run estate still represents today the purest essence of heroic Trentino viticulture: vineyards cultivated by hand, ancient dry-stone walls carved into porphyry, and a deep connection with the land.
For over 160 years, the Zanotelli family has preserved a story made of passion, sacrifice, and respect for nature. Generation after generation, the winery has grown while maintaining its founding values, becoming a place where tradition and innovation coexist in perfect harmony.
Today, the estate is still entirely managed by the Zanotelli family, who continue to run the winery with the same dedication as in the past. The 18 hectares of vineyards stretch between 400 and 900 meters above sea level, in a unique landscape defined by steep slopes, historic terraces, and breathtaking views that express the most authentic essence of the Cembra Valley.
But the heart of Cantina Zanotelli lies above all in the people who live it every day and make it truly special.
Nicola is the commercial face of the family: dynamic, direct, and always ready to share the winery’s story with enthusiasm and authenticity. He is the one who carries Zanotelli’s identity beyond the valley while keeping a strong connection to its roots.
Orietta is the soul of hospitality, the smile that welcomes guests and immediately makes them feel at home. With attention to detail, warmth, and sensitivity, she turns every visit into an authentic experience of conviviality, storytelling, and sharing.
Roberto represents the most genuine spirit of the family’s countryside life. As the guardian of the vineyards and of long-standing traditions, he lives the land every day with passion and dedication. His work reflects the deep bond between the Zanotelli family and the heroic viticulture of the Cembra Valley.
Dino, the family’s winemaker, is the meeting point between experience, technique, and sensitivity. Through his vision, he interprets every nuance of the territory with precision and respect, continuing to enhance the winery’s identity with a forward-looking approach.
Visiting Cantina Zanotelli means immersing yourself in an extraordinary landscape, discovering the faces and stories of a family that lives the mountains every day, and being captivated by the authentic atmosphere of one of the most fascinating wine regions in Trentino. An experience made of landscapes, traditions, and real people, capable of turning every visit into a lasting memory.
About the Wines
Originally, production was mainly focused on Schiava, the historic red grape variety of the valley, also known as Vernatsch. Over the years, as agronomic and winemaking expertise evolved, the winery expanded its production by introducing white grape varieties particularly well suited to the cool climate and strong temperature variations of the Cembra Valley.
Today, production includes white wines such as Müller Thurgau, Chardonnay, Riesling, Kerner, Pinot Grigio, and Gewürztraminer, as well as red wines such as Pinot Noir and Lagrein. The winery also produces Trentodoc Traditional Method sparkling wine and apple juice, confirming its commitment to fully enhancing the Cembra Valley through modern labels that remain deeply rooted in local tradition.
In recent years, Cantina Zanotelli has also stood out for its openness to international markets and its strong focus on wine tourism, becoming a reference point for those who wish to discover Trentino mountain wines and the history of viticulture in the Cembra Valley.
The winery produces a selection of wines that capture the essence of the mountains in every glass: from Müller Thurgau to Riesling, from Gewürztraminer to Pinot Noir, up to elegant Trentodoc Traditional Method sparkling wines. Each bottle is crafted with the aim of expressing the most authentic essence of the Cembra Valley.
