Amazing afternoon at Zinzani

10/1/23
We had an amazing afternoon tasting wines with Marco at Zinzani wines. We made our way from our cruise ship in Ravenna and we’re so glad we did! Marco was so informative and enthusiastic about his family’s wines. We tasted ten wines and they were all great. It’s possible that our favorite part was when some of the locals came in to fill their 5 liter jugs straight from the barrels. We all decided that we want to live that way!
Absolutely a must do if you are in Ravenna for a cruise stop and like good wine.
No suggestions, it was perfect!

About Winery and Wines

Zinzani Wines started when Antonio, a tenant farmer from Faenza who had always dreamt of owning his own farm, bought 6 hectares of land after a life of sacrifices. Here, with the savings of a lifetime, he begins to build his own house, stables and cellar. It is here that Ruggero, Antonio’s son, takes his first steps in the industry. Ruggero’s first real steps are taken in the cellar, learning how to make wine from Antonio. Here, led by his growing passion, he decides overtime to convert more and more hectares to the cultivation of vines. Together with his wife Anna, they improve the production cycle by mechanizing the entire production and refining their techniques. Anna also dedicates herself to the production of other products like jams, preserves and saba. In 2017 Ruggero’s son Marco, who grew up in the company, took over the business introducing technological innovations in the field of winemaking, without forgetting about the family tradition. Nowadays, the whole Zinzani family is involved in the production of quality artisanal products.

The 6-hectare farm of Zinzani Wines is entirely planted with vines following the guyot method of breeding, with an irrigation system and steel poles implemented by mechanization. Their land is divided into various plots in which they cultivate different varieties: Albana, Trebbiano, Malvasia, Pignoletto, Sauvignon Blanc, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Centesimino. Within the territory of the farm also some fruit trees are present, which are used in the company’s laboratory for the production of jams.
