5-night Burgundian wine escape at La Terre d’Or in Beaune

On the day of your arrival, your hosts welcome you to La Terre d’Or. Settle into your comfortable room and savor a glass of Burgundy wine before exploring the special grotto beneath the house. The restaurant for the dinner will be suggested according to your tastes. The next morning, embark on a captivating Côte de Beaune vineyard tour. Led by knowledgeable guides, visit the prestigious villages of Pommard, Volnay, and Meursault. Delight your palate during a wine tasting at Béjot, a large estate producing great wines. After lunch, continue your wine exploration with a wine tasting at Caveau des Grands Crus with Stéphane, who offers a selection of special wines from small winemakers. Later, admire the views over the medieval Château de la Rochepôt and a take short walk in the villages of Orches or Saint Romain. Before your return to La Terre d’Or, enjoy a wine tasting in a lovely vaulted cellar at the small welcoming winemaker Blandine & François Rocault. 

On the third day, venture into the Côte de Nuits region, famous for its exceptional Pinot Noir wines. Explore renowned villages along the Grands Crus wine road, with enlightening discussions about wine, winemakers, and the aging process. Marvel at prestigious vineyards like Romanée Conti, La Tâche, and Grands Echezeaux. Then, visit the medieval Château du Clos de Vougeot that housed the monks of Cîteaux, who laid many of the foundations for winemaking in Burgundy. After lunch in a charming village restaurant, indulge in a jam tasting at a local fruit grower or truffle tasting (both are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays). Continue with a visit to the cellars, the vat room, and wine tasting at Moillard in Nuits-Saint-Georges. Before heading back to the accommodation, you'll have a visit and wine tasting at another estate in Vosne-Romanée, Aloxe-Corton, or Echevronne (depending on availability).

On the fourth day, tour around the old town of Beaune and embark on a tasting at the cheese shop, after which a wine tasting at Domaine Debray, one of the very few small winemakers in Beaune, will follow. Free afternoon with the guide's recommendations: lunch on your own and time for shopping and visits. On the last day, you will depart on the exploration of Abbaye of Fontenay listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Walk through one of the most beautiful villages in France. Before returning, you will walk along the medieval streets of Semur en Auxois, a fortified village built on a pink granite rock.

Conclude your trip with a final breakfast at La Terre d'Or before bidding farewell, carrying cherished memories of exceptional wines, picturesque villages, and warm Burgundian hospitality.
