Vertical Amarone Tasting with Local Delicacies at Mizzon in Valpolicella
Here is what's in store for you
Your experience at the Mizzon winery begins upon your arrival, where you will be greeted by a member of the family or the hospitality team for a tour of the cellar. You'll learn about the winemaking and aging techniques that define Valpolicella's wines before moving to the tasting room.
Here, you will begin a vertical tasting of four distinct expressions of the estate's Amarone.
You will start with the traditional Amarone, aged for about 48 months, an intense ruby-red wine with notes of jammy red fruit and black pepper.
Next, you'll taste the Riserva, from hillside grapes and aged for 72 months, which is rich and structured with notes of jammy cherry, balsamic, and spice.
The third tasting explores an Amarone aged in amphora, a unique process that results in fruity, floral, and honeyed notes with a soft acidity.
You will conclude with a historic vintage, which reveals the wine’s depth and evolution over time.
Each wine will be paired with a platter of local cured meats and cheeses, which may include soppressa Veronese, salame all'amarone, and Monte Veronese cheese, selected to enhance the flavors of the region.
