(Weingut in USA)
(Weingut in USA)
Nearly twenty years ago, I purchased the spectacular property upon which I built Castello di Amorosa. It sat on a hundred-seventy beautiful acres of forest and hills with a stream, a lake, one of the first houses built in Napa County and a great Victorian home where I chose to live. It was my dream property, culminating a search of many years. The purchase also came with a great building permit for a large winery building which had taken the previous owner thirteen years to obtain.
At first, I had no intention of starting another winery- I already had V.Sattui. My plan was only to replant historic vineyards there. However, throughout my adult life, I had been fascinated with Italian medieval architecture; and, because of my passion- some would say obsession- I had already bought a handful of ancient properties in Italy, including a small castle near Florence (now sold), a medieval monastery near Siena (now being refurbished) and a Medici palace in southern Tuscany, which we are remodeling into a period hotel. You get the picture- it's an incurable malady.
I was naive enough to think I was ready to begin. My plan was to incorporate all the ideas and details that I had assembled from my first trip to Italy in 1965 in my 8,500 square-foot winery. I would create a fantasy, a maze where every room and space opened into a new and different adventure as one traveled throughout the building. I would include all the elements of a true medieval castle- a moat and drawbridge, high walls and towers on a hillside, a great hall, courtyards and loggias, an apartment for the nobles, a big kitchen, an outdoor brick oven for baking bread, a church, a horse stables, secret passage ways and, of course, a prison and torture chamber.
Villa Appalaccia Winery
(Weingut in USA)
A unique experience of Virginia Wine and Virginia Wineries is defined by a visit to Villa Appalaccia Winery. We are located on the Blue Ridge Parkway close to Floyd and Stuart VA, Greensboro and Winston-Salem NC and Roanoke VA. The Italian-inspired Villa is situated with stunning views and a relaxing environment, one mile from Chateau Morrisette Winery and 9 miles from Floyd. We predominantly grow Italian grape varieties and make award-winning Virginia Wine from Sangiovese, Primitivo, Pinot Grigio, Malvasia, Cabernet Franc, Aglianico and Corvina. Our vineyard is one of the few in VA not planted on clay but shale, with the result that our Virginia Wine is unique and true to the Italian heritage. We have a wood-fired brick oven for special-event weekends, an Italian music garden for relaxation and entertainment and as always, our bocce court is available.
Blue Sky Vineyards
(Weingut in USA)
With the grapes planted and the winemaking underway, our family turned their sights toward the winery itself. Nancy Karen Brian, Chairman of the Department of Design at California State University, Fresno, designed the Tuscan inspired Blue Sky Winery. After years of dedication and attention to every detail we opened our doors to the world on July 4th, 2005. Ever since then, we have continually strived to create a place of great tranquility. As the photos in our gallery will attest, this marvelous location is ideal for weddings, receptions, and romantic getaways.
Strong Tower Vineyard & Winery
(Weingut in USA)
Strong Tower Vineyard & Winery is an inspiration come true through years of planning and perseverance. Now a certified Florida Farm Winery, we have planted and grown three very carefully chosen grape varieties, from which all our wines are created. Each grape, chosen for it's own unique flavors and characteristics, is encouraged to bring forth wine that is true to the grape. These selections consist of the prized and delicate smaller rich Norton (Cynthiana), the flavored sweetness of the Ison and Carlos Muscadines and when in season blueberry and sweet blueberry, strawberry & watermelon wines. You will enjoy your walk to the vineyard when you visit. You can smell the wine on the vines. We open for "U-Pick" in harvest season - a nice family outing, and the grapes are so delicious!
Pahrump Valley Winery
(Weingut in USA)
The Pahrump Valley Winery opened in 1990 and the first vines were planted shortly thereafter. Unfortunately, wild horses thought these young vines were dinner and they fell victim to this herd. The vines were lost only to be replanted a couple of years later, this time with a fence!
In the fall of 2002, we discovered the winery and felt it could have a bright future. In January 2003 we took control of the winery and began the long and much needed process of upgrading and renovating the entire property. We installed a brand new, fully functional wine production cellar including new stainless steel fermentation tanks, bottling line, grape crushing and pressing equipment, refrigeration and cooling system, new oak barrel room for aging wine, all new tasting room and expansion, guest lounge, substantial new vineyard plantings and upgraded the landscaped grounds. This complete and total renovation of the winery also included a new state of the art kitchen and complete remodel for our restaurant, Symphony's.
The winery has a small estate vineyard planted in the early 1990’s and surprisingly, these vines had never been harvested. Fast forward to 2005 when we successfully harvested the first one and a half tons of Zinfandel grapes. This resulted in our release of Nevada's first ever commercial red wine, our 2005 Zinfandel. The wine is a medium bodied red wine with hints of cherry and cola. What is more surprising is this Zinfandel wine won "Gold" at the Pacific Rim International Wine Competition, making it Nevada's first Gold medal winner for a home grown wine. We also released the state's first commercial "inter-specific" or hybrid wine in 2009, our award-winning 2008 Frontenac. Now we like to say, we are "Bringing Gold to the Silver State".

Conservation Easement - To preserve the rural character of Thanksgiving Farm for perpetuity, we granted Anne Arundel County a Conservation Easement on the farm.
Old Westminster Winery & Vineyard
(Weingut in USA)
Winemaking is a delicate and nuanced art. We believe that our family's collective expertise, meticulous vineyard care, and thoughtful cellar practices enable us to produce distinctive wines that are a pleasure to drink.
We know that there are misgivings about Maryland wine. But we also know that the ancient soil and climate of Maryland is an environment where world-class wines can be produced. So at Old Westminster Winery, we are boldly committed to putting Maryland wine on the world map.
In our vineyards and cellar, everything is done by hand. From winter pruning, to summer hedging, to harvest, every step of our process is powered by sweat, not oil. This method of farming offers our vines and wines a level of care few others experience. Our fingerprints are on every vine, every grape and every bottle.
Sustainability is of utmost importance to us. We implement a pragmatic farming program using environmentally sound materials; mostly organic, but also synthetic when it's known to be more effective and less intrusive. Our vigneron, Drew Baker, systematically rotates sprays to avoid resistance and reduce the volume of necessary applications. We use diverse cover crops to entice beneficial insects and promote healthier vines with stronger immune systems that demand fewer inputs. We consider the consequences of everything we do. Nature’s rhythms are delicate, so we farm with a light hand.
Silver Moon Winery
(Weingut in USA)
Silver Moon Winery was founded in 2004, in a stroke of luck. Owner Ken Eschbacher was inspired to open his own winery when, after receiving a bottle of custom-labeled wine, he became fascinated by the process. Ken did extensive research, learning about wine-making and the ins and outs of a winery, including all steps to make the wine itself, as well as bottling, and labeling. After a year learning all he could about the business, Ken made the leap and opened Silver Moon Winery.
When the business began, Silver Moon Winery was focused on education, teaching people how to make their own wine. In 2007, the winery moved to its current location in Dover, Ohio and changed focus. Since then, Silver Moon Winery has been all about making wine! All of our wines are made with juice imported from major grape and wine regions around the world.
Today, we make and sell over 40 styles of wines. Our repertoire includes sweet wines, a local favorite, crisp whites, and bold reds. We also produce a number of delicious dessert wines. In 2010, we began distributing our wines in shops around the area. In addition to our wine tastings and sales at the winery, Silver Moon Winery bottles can now be found in over 350 stores throughout Ohio!
Sand Hollow Winery
(Weingut in USA)
Jim Young, vintner and owner has traveled to all fifty states and all seven continents. His travels and other assorted life experiences (To many to get into here.) have come together for some of the best lies and hand-crafted wines made from the best available juices in the world.

His 83 acre farm in scenic Southeast Licking County (only 30 minutes from Columbus) is the perfect place to have a wedding, club meeting or just relax with friends.
Rockside Winery and Vineyards
(Weingut in USA)
That's the way we like to think of our place. Where else can you go that is 45 minutes from much of Columbus and enjoy rolling vineyards, great wine, fun events, and a relaxing wine experience? Ron and Lynn Rutter started RockSide Winery in 2007. They found a beautiful 17 acre spot among the rolling hills of Fairfield County near Lancaster and planted the first vines. Four years later in 2011 the winery and tasting room were built and the new winery was on its way!
In October of 2014 Robin and Valerie Coolidge purchased the winery and vineyards. Along with their son Ryan, the couple had owned Wyandotte Winery in Columbus for several years. Wyandotte, an urban winery located in a neighborhood setting, is land locked, and has no space for vineyards, just a few vines planted on the property. RockSide was the perfect way for the family to branch out and expand their winery business.
Ohio can be a challenging place to have a vineyard. Our winters are cold, our summers are relatively short and are humid enough to cause grape vines diseases to take hold easier here than in other grape growing regions. There are four and a half acres of Vinifera, French-American Hybrids, and Native American vines surrounding the RockSide Winery and tasting room.
Greene Eagle Winery
(Weingut in USA)
Our "dream" opened in the middle of "no where" in December 2009 with the thought and hope of "Build it and they will come". What once was a soy bean field is now the cozy confines of Greene Eagle Winery.
Grand River Cellars
(Weingut in USA)
Madison Wine Cellars, Inc. is comprised of some well known faces and names in the Ohio wine industry. The group is comprised of two families that have worked closely together for years.
Tony Debevc, owner of Debonne Vineyards-Ohio’s largest estate winery, will be in charge of wine production.
Cindy Lindberg, event coordinator at Debonne and former school psychologist with the Mayfield City School District, will be in charge of the day to day operations of the winery.
Grand River Cellars was first established in 1976 known at that time as the Grand River Wine Company. During its first few years the focus was on wine production and the growing of quality vinifera grapes. The initial winery opened to the public in 1978 and grew in popularity over the next 20 years.
The owners, Bill & Carol Worthy, decided to sell the winery in 1998. In August of 2005, Madison Wine Cellars, Inc. purchased the winery from the former owners and began to develop what is now called Grand River Cellars.
Inside the new Grand River Cellars you will be welcomed by a warm and inviting atmosphere that includes a beautiful fireplace, many hand painted murals, and a large bar area for friends to gather. The winery offers a large variety of appetizers, grilled sandwiches, and a well-rounded dinner menu.
