La Bodega Oltrealmare tiene sus raíces en la tradición y la sostenibilidad, y nació de la recuperación de unas tierras que habían estado abandonadas durante más de 30 años. Tenuta Maffone

Tenuta Maffone is the story of a family and of a little corner of Liguria. A unique land called "frazione Acquetico", at 500-600 meters over sea level, kissed by the sun and caressed by the light winds of mediterranean sea a tiny strip of land inhabited by few dozen of people in the province of Imperia - A magic place where the tradition of "producing good wine and oil" cooperates with the surrounding natural resorses. From 1950 vineyards of Tenuta Maffone enchant those who descoveres them and produce refined wines of unfor getable "ligurian taste".
A precious production, strictly doc wich includes "Ormeasco di Pornassio", "sciac-trà" and "Pigato" of Liguria's west Riviera. In addition to it there are olso waine distilled grappe highly selected and an unmissable line of extra-vergin olive oil unfiltered. "Tenuta Maffone" is a "ligurian story", a story to discover and tell.

We keep soil’s fertility and biodiversity by rotating organic fertilization, natural grassing and green manure. What we do is to mow the grass instead of weeding, in order to enrich the soil and feed the plant.
Vineyard’s exposure to breezes, together with a careful management of vines enable us to keep away diseas. We use few sulfur, copper and bacillus thuringiensis: a new trend in biological control.
Every stage of production is manually worked, from pruning until harvesting.

The grape growing has always been present in Guglielmi's farmland. At the end of nineteenth century, since the grape phylloxera destroyed our old grapevines, my great-grandfather Giandomenico had to replace the grapevines.
In the 1960s my father Elmo committed to farm grapevines of Rossese and Massarda, the grape growing was totally handmade. At that time, in our land farmer started to grow the roses.
Thanks to a new legislation about wine, Rossese became a DOC wine in 1972 and many winegrower began began to bottle the wine and sell it directly to restaurants. Conversely my father continued the wholesale of wine.
By the end of 1970s the wine sector suffered a bad crisis, a lot of low quality wine was sold at a low price to bars and restaurants. In those years, floriculture replaced the vineyard growing in our land.

Forte di un’esperienza e di una grande passione tramandate da quattro generazioni, produce vini di elevata qualità, occupandosi direttamente dell’intera filiera vitivinicola, dalla cura dei vigneti di propietá, alla vinificazione, all’affinamento del vino, fino all’imbottigliamento. L’accurata attenzione nel lavoro, unita alle caratteristiche del terreno e del clima, conferiscono ai vini profumi e sapori unici.

La nostra è una giovane storia di resilienza, innovazione e ritorno.
Ci trovate in una parte del Paese inaspettata, l’alta terra ligure di Ponente, un’area interna lontana dalle grandi città, ma allo stesso tempo sorprendentemente viva, fertile e in salute.
Ci prefiguriamo come difensori dei saperi antichi, ma soprattutto come instancabili innovatori; tuteliamo il patrimonio rurale ed il paesaggio di un territorio fragile e marginale.
Siamo contadini, evoluti, quello che vogliamo è una nuova alleanza fra uomo e natura.
Pochi ettari di vigneto, in una vallata meravigliosa e scenografica, caratterizzata dai tipici terrazzamenti, esposti a sud. Si tratta di una viticoltura difficile, che richiede un lavoro manuale e artigianale nella conduzione della vigna. Vogliamo restituire il sapore di un terroir autentico, ancora inesplorato.
Al vigneto si sposano gli uliveti sparsi nella valle. Curiamo circa 700 piante di ulivo e produciamo l’olio extra vergine monocultivar taggiasco.
Api, officinali, orti, giardini, grani antichi, piante da frutta e quanto serve alla nostra famiglia.
Rovebella

The Rovebella by F.lli Ribul winery has ancient origins and a young and dynamic present.
The name Rovebella comes from the spring that has been irrigating the Aregai area, in Western Liguria, for centuries now. The spring, surrounded by oak trees, is called “Rove” in dialect, which means “oak tree”.
Passionate about wine, just like their grandfather, they approach wine growing and they plant the first Pigato and Granaccia varieties in 2013. The following year, they add the historical Moscatello di Taggia variety and found the Associazione Produttori Moscatello di Taggia, along with other members.
Since then, the wine company has grown, preserving the bond with its territory and the family traditions.
Laura Aschero

The "Azienda Agricola Laura Aschero" is a small family-operated winery that produces about 65,000 bottles per year of vintage Ligurian wines: Vermentino, Pigato and Rossese. Our business activity began in 1980, with the reconversion of family lands to vineyard. We succeeded in obtaining an upscale product, earning prestigious awards for quality over the years.
Laura Aschero was my mother. A doctor's daughter who became a doctor's wife, even as a girl she showed her resolute, brilliant and enterprising nature. In 1975, after having been a full-time wife and mother, at age 54 she decided, with dad's support, to return the family lands to vineyard , with the aim of selling the grapes to local winegrowers and of creating an occupation for her husband, who was approaching retirement. But, not content to be an onlooker and at the urging of friends in the same line of business, she decided to register with the Chamber of Commerce and tried to make a little wine from her grapes.
Result: the first wine was nothing special, but right from the start the structure proved to be remarkable. Thanks to the professional advice of oenologist Gianpaolo Ramò, who still today oversees our cellar, we succeeded in creating our present-day wines: fragrant, well-balanced

At the very beginning of the book “La luna e i falò” (Cesare Pavese’s book “The Moon and the Bonfires”) the narrator is searching for his home town to understand what he was before his birth: a hill, a valley, a wood or a house with balconies.
I always knew it: I was the olive-trees’ terraces rising from Diano Castello to Calderina Arentino. Grandfather Bensa bought there in the twenties a pink country house.
To reach the house you needed 20 minutes on a mule track. Every single time I was dazed by the gentle climb into those ashen – silver clouds and by the cicadas’ soundtrack.
I was overwhelmed by a feeling of fullness and inexpressible gratitude that I was not able to direct. It seemed like a young god was showing himself in spring in the perfection of the clean yellow color of the brooms.
Terre bianche

Terre Bianche was founded in 1870 when Tommaso Rondelli planted the first Rossese grape vineyard on a unique and peculiar white soil area in the Ligurian Riviera. The estate expanded over the years with the addition of more vineyards and olive tree groves.
Our family business grew and blossomed between 1985 and 1998 under the lead of Claudio and Paolo Rondelli and Franco Laconi, Paolo’s brother in law. The already acclaimed wine increased in volume production and reached superb quality, whilst the addition of the agriturismo was the natural step to create a great lifestyle experience for our customers.
At the end of the 90s, Filippo took over from his father Claudio to head the business with Paolo and Franco and to push further the quality of all our wines, which had already reached award-winning status.
Today the family is working hard to maintain the standards achieved over the years and to enrich the experience provided to our customers.
