Tenuta Carretta is a beautiful winery located in Piobesi d’Alba, Piedmont, where they produce wines from sixty-five hectares (161 acres) of property vineyards in the Langhe and Roero. Founded in 1467, the winery has one of the richest and longest histories of all establishments in the area. The winery is part of a larger whole that includes a restaurant, hotel and shop. The restaurant overlooks the hills of Roero and is run by Michelin-starred chef Flavio Costa. It is the perfect spot for special events, parties, and ceremonies, with a menu of innovative dishes based on tradition and prepared with elegance. Fundamental attention and care are given to selecting only the highest quality ingredients, such as the famous white truffles of Alba when in they are in season. The most prestigious vineyards, where the Nebbiolo vines used to produce Barolo and Barbaresco are grown, are to be found in the Langhe, a historic region of Piedmont spanning Cuneo and Asti provinces, and bordering Monferrato and Roero. As well as its thriving service sector, the Langhe is also famed for its wines, acclaimed the world over, particularly the reds, Barolo, Nebbiolo and Barbaresco. Equally famous is the Alba white truffle, celebrated at a festival that takes place in Alba every year and attracts thousands of visitors from far and near. Also grown everywhere is the Tonda Gentile delle Langhe hazelnut, made famous by the confectionary products of the Ferrero company in Alba.
