Prosecco & Lugana Tasting with Cellar Tour at Giacomo Montresor in Verona
Here is what's in store for you
Your visit to Cantine Giacomo Montresor, a winery making wine just outside Verona's center since 1892, begins with a tour of the working cellar.
You will be guided by a qualified member of the hospitality team, who will take you through the estate's history and production process. The tour starts in the wine museum before moving into the production areas.
You will see the pressing and fermentation rooms, pass through the historic 'fruttaio' where grapes are left to dry for the appassimento method, and descend into the underground cellars for a look at where the wines age.
After the tour, you will take a seat in the dedicated tasting room. Your tasting flight includes five of the winery's still and sparkling white wines from the Verona and Lake Garda areas.
You'll start with a Prosecco Millesimato DOP, a single-vintage sparkling Glera with notes of green apple. Next is the Pinot Grigio 'Montefiera' delle Venezie DOP, a dry white with pear and citrus aromas. You will then taste a Soave Classico 'Gran Guardia' DOP, made from Garganega grapes, followed by two expressions of the local Turbiana grape: a Lugana 'Satinato' DOP with a light saline finish, and the fuller-bodied Lugana Le Tradizioni 'Campovalentino' DOP.
If you select the food pairing option, your tasting will be accompanied by a platter of local products. This includes cured meats from the Lessinia hills, such as coppa, speck, and soppressa, alongside regional cheeses like Monte Veronese and Redivino.
