Valpolicella Wine Tasting and Cellar Tour at Montresor in Verona
Here is what's in store for you
Your visit to Cantine Giacomo Montresor, who have worked with Valpolicella's grapes since 1892, begins with a tour led by a member of the estate's hospitality team.
The path starts in the wine museum before taking you through the working areas of the winery: you will see the crushing and fermentation area, the historic 'fruttaio' where grapes are left to dry for Amarone, and the underground cellars where the red wines mature in oak barrels. The experience continues in the dedicated tasting room.
Here, you will taste five wines that trace the story of the territory. The flight includes:
- Lugana "Satinato" DOC: A white wine from Turbiana grapes grown on Lake Garda, with notes of citrus and white flowers.
- Valpolicella Classico "Capitel della Crosara" DOP: A classic Valpolicella from Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella grapes, with bright cherry notes.
- Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore "Castelliere delle Guaite" DOP: A red with more body and spice, made using the 'ripasso' method.
- Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG: A full-bodied red made from grapes dried for months ('appassimento'), showing concentrated dark fruit.
- Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva DOCG: The estate's top wine, an Amarone with extended aging for greater depth and complexity. If you select the food pairing option, your tasting will be accompanied by a board of local products, including coppa, speck affumicata, and soppressa, a soft, slow-cured sausage.
This experience is open to all ages; participants not tasting wine will join the tour and be served a food board and water during the tasting.

Pleasant discovery
The guy who explained to us was knowledgeable and pleasant to listen to at all times.
The tasting was also satisfying, both for the wines offered and for the food that accompanied everything.
Overall I would definitely recommend this tour
Beautiful, good, a must-do.
A very nice tour of the cellar and museum, maybe a bit rushed, but truly complete and with a part related to flavors/aromas and soils that was very interesting (in our opinion it deserved a bit more in-depth time).
The tasting was truly excellent, complete (the oil was also much appreciated) and with a generous charcuterie board. Obviously, taste is extremely personal, but we really appreciated the wines we tasted.
The tour could be more detailed in the museum part and where they talk about the territory.
During the tasting it would be nice to have a price list on hand with discounts reserved for the cellar, not only for the wines being tasted but also for the other wines from the winery (of which there are very many). We purchased bottles from the tasting but also 2 bottles of sparkling wine that were not part of the tasting but we knew we would appreciate (and indeed they were much appreciated).
Super tour and tasting
