Valpolicella Wine Tasting & Light Lunch at Borghetti Giampiero in Castelrotto

In Castelrotto, at the gateway to Valpolicella Classica, you will be welcomed to the Borghetti Giampiero winery. The Fraccaroli family's boutique estate sits on a panoramic hill in the heart of the medieval village, next to Castrum Rotari, a 7th-century fortress considered the "KM Zero" of the region. The fortress is a nearby landmark and is not visited during the experience.

Depending on the season and weather, your tasting will be held inside the winery, beneath the panoramic pergola, or on the terrace overlooking the Valpolicella hills and the city of Verona. Your host will introduce you to the family's history and the local territory before starting the guided tasting of 5 wines from the Castrum Platinum Collection. This selection is closely connected to the history of the Fraccaroli family and the sculptor Innocenzo Fraccaroli.

You will taste four red wines—Valpolicella DOC Giustizia, Valpolicella Ripasso DOC Davide, IGT Corvina Icaro, and Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Achille—and one sweet dessert wine, Recioto della Valpolicella DOCG Clizia. The wines are accompanied by a 3-course light lunch, beginning with a gourmet board of Corrado Benedetti products, including cheese aged with cherries and pork loin aged in red wine. This is followed by a seasonal main course, such as cold pasta with beef carpaccio, and a traditional Sbrisolona cake for dessert.
