Organic Wine Tasting with Full Food Pairing at Podere Orto in Acquapendente
Here is what's in store for you
At Podere Orto, a family-run estate set 650 meters above sea level where Lazio, Umbria, and Tuscany meet, you will be welcomed directly by the owners. They will personally guide you through their vineyard and cellar, located near the Monte Rufeno Natural Reserve.
You will learn about their approach to viticulture, based on certified organic and biodynamic principles and focused exclusively on native grape varieties. Every step of the process is manual and artisanal, a philosophy you'll find reflected in the wines.
After the tour, you will take a seat for the tasting. In winter, it's held in the main hall of the restored 19th-century country house; in warmer months, it moves to the outdoor patio. You will taste 4 estate wines. The selection changes with each vintage, but may include whites from Procanico and Moscato Bianco, a light red blending Procanico and Sangiovese, or a red made from Sangiovese, Grechetto Rosso, and Ciliegiolo.
The tasting is paired with a selection of products from small local producers. Depending on the season, you might find homemade bread with spreads, Purgatorio beans, raw-milk goat, buffalo, and pecorino cheeses, and artisanal cured meats like capocollo, prosciutto, and lonzino from local breeds such as Cinta Senese.
