Tenuta Villa Trasqua
(Winery in Monteriggioni)

Villa Trasqua is not merely a wine, but a experience that takes root in the heart of Tuscany. Its proximity to the confines of the Chianti Classico, has enabled the Estate to unite the traditions of this ancient territory with the innovation of a more worldly outlook since more than fifty years. Following organic methods of production, from the grape-growing to the vinification process, was the challenge posed and won by Hans Hulsbergen who, from 2001 until today, has transformed Villa Trasqua from an ambitious project to a solid reality. With experience and respect for people’s bond to the land, with care for the vines that are cultivated organically, Villa Trasqua is committed to constantly find the balance between established flavours and innovative palates, between tradition and modernity, to give added value to a far-reaching history like the one on which the Chianti Classico is founded.

Agricola Poggio ai Laghi
(Winery in Monteriggioni)

Poggio ai Laghi Winery is situated right inside the Chianti Valley, a territory known worldwide for its historical production of quality wine, the beauty of its hills that dominate the landscape, and symbol of the excellence of the “made in Italy”.   The cellar was born on a plateau, also known as “poggio”, between two medieval lakes at the border of the property: the Lake Oscuro and the Lake of Sant’Antonio. The poggio and the two lakes create a perfect microclimate for the vines cultivation: the termal excursion gives us the chance to make wines particularly fragrant and the constant ventilation allows us to cultivate the grapes biologically.   Around 10 hectars of vineyards in which the king grape is the Sangiovese, together with other vines well loved by winelovers, like the Merlot and Vermentino. From here great wines are brought to life, either ready to be drinken or with a potential lifespan that goes up to 30 years.   Toghether with an accurate oenological research and work on the fields, all the Poggio ai Laghi’s wines carry good wishes, thanks to the strict tie with the Protectors of Monteriggioni to which they are dedicated: Donna Ava and her seven handmaids (Oletta, Nina, Lucilla, Firmina, Arania, Arella and Aranda).   “In every sip of our wines you find the good luck we have grown in these vineyards”   Eight women that lived around the year 1000 A.D. in Montemaggio, the hill that stands in front of Monteriggioni. There are numerous legends that local people still pass through generations, remembering the generous protection that the Countess and her handmaids offered to citizen and foreigners.   Poggio ai Laghi was born from the inevitable love for our land: Italy, Tuscany, the Chianti valley. DOC is the agricultural soul of “Agricola Poggio ai Laghi, Francesco Sguazzi, entrepreneur with numerous activities (from catering to real estate) where people are always at the center. One day Sguazzi found the cellar in Monteriggioni and decided to add “wine” to his projects. He then selected a team of professionals with the same passion about wine, Chianti and Tuscany.
