5 Picnic in the vineyard (Lorna)We chose the "Picnic in libertà" experience and it was wonderful. The wine trekking part is not at all difficult. There is a small uphill section at the start but nothing impossible. The Calatroni route (provided by the map they give you) is a circuit and takes about an hour. If it's very hot, I'd suggest walking by about 10/11am to then return for the picnic hamper. In cooler weather, you could easily take the hamper with you and picnic in amongst the vineyards you pass. Part of the route is on the Saint Colombanus Way - the 7th C Irish abbott Colombanus founded a church in Bobbio, and pilgrims would travel along the very route you are taking! The picnic itself was delicious - fresh, seasonal food - and the wine was superb (we had the Calatroni Riesling). Kudos to the vineyard for the biodegradable or reusable containers. This is sustainable tourism at its best - highly recommended!

5 A tasting I will not forget (Stefania)Everything was perfect, our guide, whose name I unfortunately don't remember, managed to make us perfectly enter the wonderful world of this land, the Oltrepò Pavese, a territory that is not valued enough despite being wonderful from every point of view. The quality of the wines tasted was exceptional and the pairings were spot-on and of high quality. I thank the Ballerio estate and especially its staff.

5 A wonderful experience (Stefania)It was a beautiful afternoon, a different kind of tasting. We walked through the vineyards tasting the first three glasses with a detailed explanation from the oenologist, from the harvest to the production of their wines. We learned so many new things. Then we went to the actual tasting with platters of cured meats and cheeses, where they explained how to taste the other 4 glasses, paired with what we were about to eat. Everyone was truly cordial, hospitable, and very kind. Obviously we bought their wines. Truly a wonderful experience. Congratulations

5 An educational and fun morning (Antonio)We spent a beautiful morning at the Calatroni winery, not too big but very well-kept. Our "Virgil" (whose name I don't remember, and I apologize) was perfect; besides the history of the winery and the Oltrepò area, he explained some truly interesting technical aspects of winemaking in a simple way. A cheerful conclusion with a tasting of the winery's excellent wines, honorable mention for the "Michel" classic method. We went home with several bottles of excellent wine.

5 Top experience (Paolo)Fantastic experience, also helped by the splendid sunny day which allowed us to appreciate the visit to the vineyard and the production part of the estate, divinely explained with competence and passion by the guide. The tasting was also excellent, accompanied by zero-kilometer products or almost. In the end we bought 9 bottles and they gifted us one. I particularly appreciated the Merlot riserva, my wife the classic sparkling Pinot. Recommended

5 Wonderful experience! (Chiara)Wonderful experience! The guide was clear and passionate, showing us the different grapevines, explaining pruning, the soil, and the winemaking process. The tasting of 4 wines (plus one offered) was excellent, accompanied by a rich platter and a delicious chocolate salami for dessert. The wine was really very good and we were happy to have purchased it. I highly recommend it!

4 Simply quality (Giuseppe)We visited the vineyards, the pressing room, the storage and bottling room, then we tasted good quality wines paired with local cured meats and cheeses, also of good quality; everything was explained with the simplicity of a person who with clear words illustrated all the cultivation, production, and quality processes of the wines we tasted, and yet the person was a Sommelier (thankfully not an arrogant one). In light of all this, I highly recommend a visit to this winery. P.S. From summer 2026 there will also be pitches for camper vans, congratulations!

4 A beautiful Sunday (Maura)We spent a very pleasant morning among the beautiful vineyards of the Ballerio estate. We really enjoyed the walk through the rows of vines and the tasting of local wines and products, it was excellent, both in quantity and quality. As for the content of the explanation, being a technician, I would have liked to have a little more information (for example, the reasons for the oenologist's choices), but the overall experience is definitely super positive.
