Since 1935, Santa Margherita has embodied Gaetano Marzotto’s vision of modern, efficient winemaking, harmonizing people, nature, and technology. Named after his beloved wife, Margherita, the winery also symbolizes family, represented by the Portogruaro villa where Gaetano and his eight children lived. Marzotto transformed the abandoned lands between Fossalta di Portogruaro and the Venetian Lagoon into a thriving 1,000-hectare agricultural hub, reviving traditional viticulture with a state-of-the-art winery. After World War II, Santa Margherita focused on DOC wines, anticipating a shift toward fresher, lighter wines. Identifying Alto Adige as a prime region, it revolutionized Pinot Grigio in 1961 with white vinification, sparking a global success. Chardonnay, Müller Thurgau, and Prosecco soon followed. A sustainability pioneer, Santa Margherita adopted integrated pest management in Alto Adige, reducing chemicals, enhancing biodiversity, and promoting environmental restoration. The Refrontolo garden-vineyard reflects its ongoing commitment to quality and sustainability, ensuring Santa Margherita remains a benchmark for Italian wine worldwide.

Provides 4 wine tastings and winery visit from €12.00
The De Stefani family traces its roots to Refrontolo, a UNESCO World Heritage village in Veneto, Italy, with historical records dating back to 1624. Today, the winery is led by Alessandro De Stefani, the fourth generation, who produces wines under a natural philosophy from old, high-density vineyards. Focusing on native varieties like Marzemino and Prosecco, the winery produces around 400,000 bottles annually from 150 acres of vineyard, distributing its wines globally and gaining recognition in prestigious wine guides. The family’s winemaking history began in 1866 with Valeriano De Stefani, who cultivated vines and produced wines in the Refrontolo hills, specializing in dried grape wines. Over the generations, the De Stefani family has continuously innovated, expanding into the Piave area in the 1960s and introducing modern viticulture and winemaking techniques such as temperature control during fermentation, the use of small barrels for aging, and high-density planting. Milestones include the production of Tombola di Pin Millesime sparkling wine in 1985 and the introduction of Stèfen 1624, a Marzemino wine, in 2003, both emblematic of the estate’s commitment to tradition and innovation. The winery also emphasizes sustainability, avoiding herbicides and chemicals in the vineyard and vinifying without added preservatives or sulfites.

"Pramaggiore, small town in the eastern part of the Veneto region, the verdant heart of the Venetian wine-growing region". It was here that in 1972 Cav. Dino Musaragno, well-known building contractor, realized his dream: build a winery to produce wines grown in his own vineyard. He started with 20 hectares that over the years have grown to 30, all dedicated to grape cultivation in a terroir-that of the "Lison-Pramaggiore" and "Venice" DOC-known for its terrain well-adapted to the most prestigious vines and where the passion and culture of wine cultivation has existed from time immemorial. The growth of the winery is directly tied to the entrepreneurial spirit of its founder whose profound love for his native soil has been passed Moreno, who run the winery today. Recent years have seen considerable investment and major work on the land in complete respect for the natural environment...

Tenuta Sant'Anna
(Winery in Venice)

The Estate was founded in the 60's in the heart of the Lison Pramaggiore DOC region, where the clay soils of this area were since Roman times dedicated to viticulture, and so throughout the Middle Ages, during which these lands provided wine for the Republic of Venice at the height of its splendour. Tenuta Sant'Anna has been an active pioneer in viticulture since its very first grape harvests. At a time when wine was on the whole consumed daily, Tenuta Sant'Anna gave it greater significance, producing wines from single vine varieties and exalting the characteristics of each grape, opening new horizons for wine lovers and helping to create a worldwide image for Italian wine. 140 hectares of vineyards are the Company’s most valuable assets, more than anything certifying the bond with the land and with nature. The clayey and impermeable soils, cracked under the summer sun, shape the character of the wines and provide that mellowness and intensity which since ancient times has ennobled these lands. The commitment to keep in step with ongoing technological innovation has called for constant investment in monitoring systems for all the processes which transform the grapes into wine, and instrumentation which scientifically analyses the health characteristics of each product and ensures durability.
