About the Winery
La Raia is a biodynamic farm, Demeter-certified, located in the gentle hills of the Gavi wine region in Novi Ligure, Piedmont. Spanning 180 hectares, with 42 hectares dedicated to vineyards, the estate also includes fields, pastures, and woodlands. Purchased by the Rossi Cairo family in 2003, La Raia was restored with a commitment to biodynamic farming, focusing on enhancing the original ecosystem. This philosophy has created a rich biodiversity, making La Raia a haven for bees and other pollinators, and allowing us to produce not only award-winning wines but also honey from acacia, multi-flower, and woodland varieties.
In 2013, the La Raia Foundation was established to promote a critical reflection on the landscape through the contributions of artists, photographers, and philosophers. Permanent artworks by Remo Salvadori and Koo Jeong A are displayed throughout the estate, offering visitors a unique blend of art, nature, and agriculture.
About the Wines
At La Raia, we produce three types of Gavi D.O.C.G. and two types of Piemonte D.O.C. Barbera, all reflecting the unique terroir of the Gavi region. Our traditional Gavi D.O.C.G. is a fresh, ready-to-drink white wine, crafted from Cortese grapes and aged on the lees for 3-4 months. The Gavi D.O.C.G. Riserva Vigna della Madonnina, made from handpicked, slightly raisined grapes, offers complex aromas of ripe fruit after aging for six months on the lees and an additional six months in the bottle.
The Gavi D.O.C.G. Pisé, a selection of the best grapes from the estate's oldest vines, is only produced in exceptional vintages. Aged for at least 20 months on the lees, it’s a long-lived wine with a constantly evolving aroma. Our Piemonte D.O.C. Barbera is a classic Piedmont red, balancing acidity with freshness and refined in stainless steel to preserve its vibrant character.

Nestled in the beautiful wine region of Piemonte, Raia offers a charming setting and excellent wines that truly captures the essence of the region. The vineyard itself is stunning, set amidst rolling hills and picturesque landscapes, it provides serene and tranquil atmosphere. The staff takes great care adding to the overall appeal of the location. The wine tasting at Raia was exceptional. Giada, the knowledgeable and friendly staff guided us through the different varieties of wine they produce. Their passion for winemaking was evident as she shared insights about vineyard’s history, winemaking techniques and the unique characteristics of each wine. Raia vineyard is a gem worth visiting for wine enthusiasts and those seeking an idilic location, knowledgeable staff and warm hospitality. It was truly a memorable experience. We highly recommend a visit to Raia vineyard for an authentic and enjoyable wine experience in the heart of Piemonte.

The guide welcomed us and led us on the tour of the winery, explaining the history of the winery and their wine production methods in a detailed and pleasant way.
Afterwards we moved on to the tasting, which also had great attention to detail and was rich with dishes to sample along with the delicious Gavi we drank.
An experience I would absolutely recommend to friends and family.
