Badia di Morrona
About the Winery
Enclosed in an idyllic Tuscan landscape, between Pisa and Volterra, the Badia di Morrona estate spreads across 600 hectares where woods of cypresses, oaks, and holm oaks leave space for 40 hectares of olive groves, and— most importantly—110 hectares of vineyards rising up the gentle hillslopes near the Cascina river, between Terricciola and Casciana Terme Lari. Owned by the Gaslini Alberti family since 1939, the Badia di Morrona winery still aims today at producing authentic, high-quality terroir wines.
About the Wines
Red grapes predominate on the Badia di Morrona estate, where the Sangiovese variety plays the major role, as 60% of all the estate vineyards are dedicated to this “Tuscan monarch”. Other varieties grown by the winery include Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah, as well as the native red grape variety Canaiolo, valued in blends for its forthright color. On the white side, Vermentino and Chardonnay stand out, planted in the center of the estate vineyards in level areas.

Informative and for the soul
The guide was well prepared and knew the history of the winery perfectly.
Afterwards, we visited the places where the wine is produced.
Here too, our second guide was very competent.
We finished with a wonderful tasting and an extremely delicious lunch.
All the cured meats were very good.
The team is not just competent but also pleasant.
Thanks for everything
