Podere Marcampo
(Winery in Hills of Pisa)
Provides 2 wine tastings and winery visit from €35.00
Our story begins in 1971, the year in which Genuino Del Duca, a former carabiniere from Abruzzo, moved to Tuscany and decided to retire from the army after twenty years to fulfill his dream: to create, together with his wife Ivana, a reality linked to good food and good wine, their two great passions. Thus they opened the restaurant "Il Vecchio Mulino" in Saline di Volterra and in 2001 a second restaurant in Palazzo Inghiarmi in the historical center of the city. The restaurant business increases the passion for food and wine and feeds the desire to buy a farm in the countryside of Volterra where it would be possible to produce wine, an excellent product of a land where the wine tradition dates back to the Etruscan era. The wish came true and in 2003, after selling the restaurant in Saline di Volterra, the Del Duca family bought Marcampo, an early eighteenth-century farmhouse abandoned around the 1950s. The restoration of the old ruin was completed in 2009 and Marcampo became a real jewel in the heart of the Natural Park of the Balze and the Calanchi. The warm welcome of the hosts, the love and care for every detail, make Marcampo a magical and welcoming place, a perfect escape from the heat and chaos of the city for families, couples and friends.
Fattoria Fibbiano
(Winery in Hills of Pisa)
Provides 2 wine tastings and winery visit from €55.00
At Fattoria Fibbiano, "real wine" is defined by its authenticity, rooted in the ancient, autochthonous grape varieties that have thrived for centuries in the Tuscan landscape, often with little human intervention. Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo, Colorino, and Colombana represent the very essence of the land, embodying its history, voice, and soul. These vines grow naturally in harmony with the environment, producing wines that are anything but ordinary. The winemaker’s role is minimal; instead, the power of nature is allowed to guide the process, resulting in wines that are true to their origins.
Located in the municipality of Terricciola, within the picturesque Era Valley of Tuscany, Fattoria Fibbiano is steeped in history and tradition. The estate’s soil, rich with fossil shells and medium-textured corals from the Pliocene epoch, speaks to its ancient origins. This unique terroir is nurtured using only organic, chemical-free substances, ensuring that the land remains as pure and untouched as possible. Perched on a hill, Fattoria Fibbiano benefits from mostly south-facing vineyards, with 2.5 hectares strategically planted facing north to yield sweeter grapes during increasingly common dry periods. The red grape varieties are cultivated at the top of the hill, while the white varieties flourish in the valley below, allowing each to benefit from the best possible growing conditions.
The history of Fattoria Fibbiano is as rich as its wines. The estate dates back to 1707, as evidenced by a carved stone on the foundation of the house. In 1997, Giuseppe Cantoni purchased the farm, and today, his son, Nicola Cantoni, continues the legacy as a winemaker. The estate spans 20 hectares of vineyards, 5 hectares of olive groves, 12 hectares of woodland, and additional arable land, all maintained with a commitment to sustainability.
L'Agona Vini
(Winery in Hills of Pisa)
Provides 1 wine tasting and winery visit from €25.00
L'Agona was born from a family project that allowed them to unite thanks to a common passion: the world of wine. The name of the company itself conveys this strong bond, as each letter corresponds to the initials of our names: Alice, Giorgia, Olivia, Nicoletta, and Andrea. Bringing L'Agona to life from scratch was a real adventure. They are not winemakers with a long tradition, but a passionate family who, step by step, have made their dream come true.
The estate's logo and labels are much more than just images. They represent Agona's willingness to put their face into what they do. The face shapes in the logo resemble a wine glass with two droplets that create a sense of movement. This symbolizes the estate's dynamism and personality.
Podere Borgaruccio
(Winery in Hills of Pisa)
Provides 1 wine tasting and winery visit from €39.00
Podere Borgaruccio has its roots dating back to the 1600s, making it one of the oldest farms in the area.
Located in Tuscany, a region renowned for its excellence in Italian enology, viticulture has been practiced here since the time of the Etruscans. This ancient farm, situated in the town of Pèccioli in the province of Pisa, overlooks the Era Valley from the top of a hill along the route connecting Volterra to Pisa. The surrounding landscape, characterized by rolling hills adorned with vineyards and olive groves, reflects the area's deep agricultural and touristic heritage.
The estate spans approximately 10 hectares, encompassing vineyards, olive groves, and woodlands. The cultivated area, covering over 5 hectares, includes plots that date back to the early 1970s.
The farm’s history can be traced as far back as 1163, when records mention Giovanni Borgarucci, a knight and landowner in the Era Valley, recognized as a producer of wine and olive oil. Additional historical references over the following centuries provide further insights:
In 1560, the name Borgaruccio appears in the Fiumi e Fossi collection (Medici land registry), where the assets of Francesco di Girolamo Borgarucci, a resident of Pèccioli, include “a piece of working land in a place called the Pèccioli plan or the Arenella plan, referred to as the Borgaruccio fund.”
In 1690, another mention in the Fiumi e Fossi collection records the property of Jacopo Di Giovanni Bessi, also a resident of Pèccioli, listing “a piece of working land in a place known as the Poggio al Borgaruccio.”
Despite changes in ownership over the centuries, the toponym has endured.
Today, the farm is guided by a team of young, dynamic, and passionate entrepreneurs dedicated to preserving and enhancing the art of viticulture. A commitment to innovation blends seamlessly with a respect for tradition, as ambitious ampelographic expansion projects continue to refine and elevate the wines produced on this historic estate.

Villa Saletta
(Winery in Hills of Pisa)
Provides 4 wine tastings and winery visit from €30.00
Villa Saletta has been at the heart of Tuscan life for centuries, with its origins dating back to 980 AD, when the first written records of wine production were made. Over the centuries, the estate has passed through the hands of just four prominent families. In the 1300s, the Gambacorta family consolidated the lands, and later, the Riccardi family, wealthy Florentine bankers connected to the powerful Medici house, transformed Villa Saletta into a flourishing agricultural estate during the 16th and 17th centuries. After being acquired by the Castelli family, Villa Saletta continued to thrive until it fell into disrepair by the late 20th century. However, in 2000, the current owners recognized its potential and embarked on a meticulous restoration to revive its agricultural legacy. Today, Villa Saletta blends traditional Tuscan techniques with modern technology, overseen by winemaker David Landini. This renaissance has allowed the estate to produce a series of internationally recognized wines, combining heritage and innovation.

Our Story
For Nino Caponi, founder of Le Palaie, it was love at first sight in 1996. It all began with the purchase of a 17th-century farmhouse, which soon became the heart of our agriturismo. In 2004, we celebrated our first grape harvest, followed by the construction of a state-of-the-art winery and tasting room in 2013. Today, our winery operates with sustainability in mind, featuring photovoltaic panels that power the entire structure.
Our Vineyards
Our vineyards are home to a diverse selection of both local and international grape varieties, including Sangiovese, Cabernet, Merlot, and Viognier. The hills on which they thrive are of marine origin, often revealing marine fossils among the vines. This unique terroir imparts a distinctive salinity to our wines, making them truly one of a kind.
The Cellar
Blending tradition with modern innovation, our winery is equipped with cutting-edge technology for winemaking. It features thermoregulated steel and cement troncoconical tanks, French oak tonneaux and barrels, Tuscan oak casks for our Sangiovese, and caratelli for the vinification of passito. Additionally, we utilize a cocciopesto tank, further enhancing the depth and character of our wines.
Experience the authentic flavors of Tuscany at Le Palaie Farm where history, nature, and winemaking come together in perfect harmony.
