Bersano
About the Winery
Founded in 1907 in Nizza Monferrato, the heart of the Barbera d'Asti region and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bersano is a historic winery deeply rooted in the rich winemaking tradition of Piedmont. Now owned by the Massimelli family, Bersano directly manages 10 farmhouses and over 230 hectares of vineyards located in the finest "Cru" of Monferrato and Langhe. Our philosophy has always centered around the vineyard as the foundation of exceptional winemaking, working closely with the land to produce wines that reflect the unique terroir and microclimate of this prestigious area. The result is a collection of long-lived, high-quality wines known for their elegance and distinctiveness. Beyond winemaking, Bersano is also a guardian of Piedmontese cultural heritage, proudly showcasing the "Museo delle Contadinerie" and the "Museum of Ancient Wine Prints," which offer a glimpse into the region's peasant culture and winemaking history.
About the Wines
A visit to Bersano is more than just a tasting; it is a journey through the history, tradition, and excellence of Piedmontese winemaking. Our guided tours of the historic cellars allow guests to experience the depth and quality of our wines, with tastings from a wide selection of labels representing the best denominations of Monferrato, Langhe, and Roero. Highlights include our esteemed Nizza DOCG Cremosina, Nizza DOCG Riserva Generala, and the renowned Barolo DOCG Badarina, available in both its classic and Riserva versions. In 2022, we proudly added Barolo DOCG Riserva Cannubi to our selection, further cementing Bersano's reputation as a producer of exceptional wines that capture the essence of their terroir.

A wonderful visit to the Bersano Cellars
Welcoming and generous hospitality
My personal favourites: Arturo Spumante Classico Brut was a nice surprise! And of course: the Barolo DOCG Cannubi Riserva.
Excellent introduction to Monferrato and Langhe
A leap back in time of about 200 years that tells of man's relationship with the land.
Our guide was very kind and knew how to adapt the visit to also engage the children present.
I suggest trying the tastings of Monferrato wines, as they are more representative of the territory. The Bersano winery also has many labels of Langhe wines which, although very good, are perhaps less typical of the area.
An excellent tasting with very good advice!
Afterwards, the tasting of 5 different wines took place, during which the different regions and producers were described very vividly.
Awesome tour and winetasting
