Cantina Lidia & Amato
(Winery in Hills of Teramo)
About Winery and Wines
Cantina Lidia & Amato is a family-owned winery that has belonged to the ancient noble Tavoletti family for over two centuries. Located in the village of San Biagio, within the municipality of Controguerra, this exceptional territory between the sea and mountains is renowned for producing wines of remarkable quality.
The legacy of Cantina Lidia & Amato continues under the stewardship of the Di Florio family and their partner Johnny Kyriazis, who took over directly from Lidia Tavoletti, heir of the Tavoletti family. The decision to preserve the name Lidia & Amato honors the estate’s deep-rooted history and winemaking tradition.
The cellar is particularly suited for high-quality, artisanal wine production, with limited quantities of approximately 100,000 bottles per year, focusing on the medium-to-high range. The estate has been completely renovated using sustainable building techniques to align with modern environmental principles. To further enhance the wine experience, Cantina Lidia & Amato has recently opened a small B&B with three rooms, offering guests a unique stay amidst the vineyards and rolling hills.
Cantina Lidia & Amato produces every single bottle from its own vineyards, which are located right next to the winery. The estate benefits from a territory particularly suited for winemaking, allowing for the production of wines that truly reflect the land’s character.
Only local grape varieties are cultivated, including Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, Pecorino, and Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. From Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, Cantina Lidia & Amato also crafts Cerasuolo and Rosato, showcasing the versatility and richness of the region’s indigenous grapes.
