Picturesque dream of a vineyard tour

My friend and I had the most wonderful time touring Cantina Tomisa. Because it was the off season and a weekday evening, we had the whole place to ourselves. The adult daughter of the family showed us around the facility and the tanks while answering all of our questions. We then had a lovely tasting of about 5 wines paired with a large charcuterie plate. We ended up meeting both parents of the family of this winery and had such lovely time asking them how it all came to be. We had more glasses of their wine (only 5€ a glass!!) and left with a bottle of their Merlot (the giulia). It’s very rare to find an organic family owned vineyard and we were so thrilled with our experience. Definitely will return!
Must try their Merlot, the giulia, I brought a bottle home with me!

About Winery and Wines

We are a family-run winery in the province of Bologna, we are certified organic and we've been FIVI members (the Italian association of independent winegrowers) for some years now. 

We are located on the Colli Bolognesi, the hills just outside the city of Bologna, land of Grechetto Gentile, the autochthonous vine variety of the area. This is often a poorly known and underestimated appellation, but it has a lot of potential and can offer nice surprises!

We work with the objective of respecting the characteristics of the territory and the vine, allowing it to express itself at its best and thus making sure that the product is an ambassador of the quality that our hills are able to produce, although not often known.

In this area, vineyards have been present for decades, our family started taking care of them at the end of the 90s, at first conferring the grapes to the social winery of the area, and the, step by step building the winery to take care of the grapes ourselves. 

We produce white, rose and red wines, both still and sparkling, exclusively from organic grapes grown directly by us. We work with grapes of Grechetto Gentile, Chardonnay, Barbera, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

- ALLEGRO: Sparkling rosè made from Barbera (Charmat method)

- GIACINTO: Still Grechetto Gentile

- CIPARISSO: Sparkling Grechetto Gentile

- GIULIETTO: Still Barbera rosè

- ALTEA: Still Barbera

- GIULIO: Still Merlot

- DIONISO: Still Cabernet Sauvignon
