Cantine Gerardo Perillo

Winery in Irpinia, Taurasi

About the Winery

The winery was born in 1997 in Castelfranci, in the heart of Irpinia. Gerardo Perillo, son of Salvatore — a historic vine grower of the area — embraced his father's legacy to enhance a terroir suited to viticulture and carry on a family tradition rooted in Irpinian farming culture.

Today there are seven hectares of vineyards, mostly Aglianico, cultivated in the territories of Castelfranci, Montemarano and Paternopoli — areas falling within the DOCG Taurasi appellation — along with a small portion of Coda di Volpe. From 2014 to 2021, production also extended to Capri, giving birth to the Capri DOC Bianco.

About the Wines

The volcanic and clay soils of Irpinia, rich in minerals, give the wines structure, complexity and a distinctive minerality. The altitude and thermal excursions enhance the aromas and preserve the natural acidity.

Every plot is studied and managed to best express the terroir's character. The goal is always the same: wines that speak of the territory from which they are born.

Cantine Perillo produces Taurasi DOCG, Irpinia DOC Aglianico, Irpinia DOC Campi Taurasini and Irpinia DOC Coda di Volpe.
