About Winery and Wines
Celler Menescal, located in Bot and owned by the Bosch-Llovet family, has a rich history dating back to the early 19th century. Built by an ancestor who was a veterinarian ("menescal" in old Catalan), the estate has been linked to winemaking since before 1860. A 1,600-liter barrel from that era, still preserved at the winery, testifies to this heritage. In the late 20th century, Celler Menescal began focusing on producing quality wines while maintaining traditional practices. Today, the winery prioritizes wine tourism, offering immersive experiences to connect visitors with its history and wines.
The farm's transformation marks a shift toward modernity while staying true to its roots, using the same grapes and winemaking traditions passed down through generations. Visitors can explore the history, taste the wines, and experience firsthand the dedication to both quality and tradition. The winery continues to serve as a bridge between the past and the future of winemaking, inviting guests to discover its unique legacy.
Celler Menescal is dedicated to preserving tradition, with a focus on single-varietal Garnacha Blanca for its white wines, the region's most renowned variety. For reds, the winery offers Garnacha Tinta monovarietals alongside blends with Syrah and Merlot.
The winery cultivates 17 hectares of organic vineyards in the Bot area, featuring both white varieties (Garnacha, Macabeo, Chardonnay, Esquitxagòs) and red varieties (Garnacha fina, Garnacha Peluda, Garnacha Tintorera, Merlot, Syrah, Tempranillo, Cariñena, and Morenillo). Certified organic since 2011, their practices honor both tradition and environmental sustainability.
