Champagne BALINCOURT
About the Winery
Founded in 1804, Champagne Louis Balincourt is a historic family-owned Champagne house rooted in the heart of Châlons-en-Champagne, in the Marne Valley. With a legacy woven into the very fabric of French history, the Balincourt family descends from a noble lineage that served the French crown for generations—holding titles such as Lords, Barons, and Marquises, and serving as ambassadors, governors, and Marshals of France. Among them, Claude-Guillaume Testu, Marquis of Balincourt and Marshal of France, embodies the honor and prestige that continue to inspire the house today.
The spirit of this legacy lives on in every bottle, cultivated with the same loyalty, precision, and distinction that once defined the family’s service to the crown. Champagne Louis Balincourt is more than a winery—it's a symbol of tradition, nobility, and timeless excellence.
About the Wines
The house's champagnes are aged deep underground in a true architectural treasure: a former Gallo-Roman chalk quarry, known as our "underground cathedral". Located nearly 100 feet below ground, these UNESCO World Heritage-listed cellars—part of the famed Hillsides, Houses and Cellars of Champagne—offer the ideal environment for the slow, refined aging of Champagne.
Exploited as early as the medieval period to build churches and homes, these chalk cellars have been used for champagne production since 1804. Their constant temperature and humidity create perfect conditions for developing complex aromas, finesse, and exceptional balance in every cuvée.
Each bottle from Champagne Louis Balincourt carries the weight of centuries of heritage, and a commitment to excellence that shines through in its refined bubbles, noble character, and lasting finish—a true toast to France’s proud past and its enduring love affair with Champagne.
