About Winery and Wines

Château Coucy blends a rich winegrowing heritage with exceptional terroir, where environmental commitment, integrated viticulture, and a passion for winemaking come together to craft Bordeaux wines of elegance and finesse. This estate, whose legacy began with its first medal in 1895 at the Concours Général Agricole de Paris, has continued to preserve and celebrate its long-standing traditions.

Since 2017, under the guidance of Florence Galande and her dedicated team, the estate has achieved a harmonious balance between terroir and expertise, creating memorable wine experiences. The estate’s architecture, with exposed beams and stone walls, exudes historical charm, complementing the authenticity of the region.

Situated in the heart of Montagne, a village in Gironde known for its deep-rooted viticulture, Château Coucy is part of a commune that has safeguarded its vines through centuries of history, from the Gallo-Roman era to the present. This area, part of the Grand Saint-Emilionnais, is home to 12 of Bordeaux’s most emblematic wine appellations, continuing a proud legacy of winemaking excellence.

Since 2017, a focus on environmental respect has shaped the vineyard and winery at Château Coucy. Numerous measures have been implemented to preserve biodiversity, earning the estate the prestigious High Environmental Value (HEV) label, the highest level of environmental certification.

Château Coucy is located on a privileged terroir of clay-limestone slopes. The grape varieties grown here consist of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, carefully selected based on the terroir's characteristics. Merlot, the emblematic grape of the Right Bank of the Garonne River, produces wines with a deep purple hue, less tannic than other Bordeaux varieties, offering a rounded palate with intense red fruit aromas. Cabernet Franc, another renowned Bordeaux grape, adds aromas of red fruits and floral hints of violet. When blended with Merlot, these wines gain remarkable suppleness and aromatic finesse.

The wines produced include:

Château Coucy - AOC Montagne Saint-Emilion: Known for its intensity and easy-drinking qualities.
Confidences - AOC Montagne Saint-Emilion: Complex and structured, offering depth and refinement.
Triple V Selection - AOC Bordeaux: Available in White, Prestige White, and Rosé, showcasing a diverse range of Bordeaux expressions.
