La Mirandola

Winery in Chianti, Chianti Classico

About the Winery

The story of La Mirandola began in 1970, when grandfather Alfredo purchased a country house with a few hectares of vineyards. His deep attachment to the land and his passion for good wine, initially produced only for family use, were passed down to his youngest grandson, Lorenzo.

In 2000, after his grandfather’s passing, Lorenzo Scala decided to continue Alfredo’s legacy and take on the challenge of producing quality wine, giving life to the present-day La Mirandola.

La Mirandola remains a family-run winery, led by Lorenzo, a young entrepreneur who, despite graduating in Political Science, chose to follow the path started by his grandfather: producing wines of the highest quality. Over the years, the winery has grown and improved, while remaining faithful to Alfredo’s teachings.

An important step in the development of La Mirandola was the collaboration with oenologist Luano Bensi, who supervises the cellar operations, from grape harvest to winemaking and aging in wood, including barriques and tonneaux. Vineyard work, from pruning to grape picking, is personally followed by Lorenzo, with the support of his family when needed.

The winery’s main goal is to express the character of its land through the production of Chianti Classico, made from local grape varieties: 95% Sangiovese and 5% Colorino. The result is a distinctive and authentic wine that reflects the noble tannins of the vines and the unique identity of the Chianti territory.
