Laghi d'Insubria

About the Winery

Laghi d'Insubria, managed by Susanna for the past 15 years, is a vineyard and winery focused on reviving the local wine tradition in the heart of the Varese region. The estate is recognized by the IGP Ronchi Varesini and DE.CO municipal name of origin cultivates indigenous grapes such as Nebbiolo and Vespolina for red wines, Erbaluce, Chardonnay, and Riesling for whites, and Croatina and Syrah for rosé. A highlight is the production of Passito wines from Nebbiolo, Erbaluce, and Malvasia.

The winery operates with a strong commitment to sustainability, emphasizing circular economy practices, energy savings, and the use of renewable resources throughout the grape cultivation and vinification processes. Guests can enjoy an immersive enotourism experience, with wine tastings conducted in the vineyard, offering a unique opportunity to connect with both the land and the wines.

Situated in Albizzate, nestled within the morainic hills of the Varese region along the Valle dell’Arno and crowned by the Prealpine Lakes and the Alps, the estate provides a serene backdrop for visitors seeking a joyful and cultural experience in wine tourism. The location, at over 350 meters in elevation, offers not just exceptional wines but a deeper connection to the land, history, and traditions of this distinctive region.

About the Wines

Laghi d'Insubria is situated in Albizzate, along the morainic hills with ideal southeast exposure at 350 meters above sea level. This prime location benefits from a thermal gradient created by cool September breezes from the Sacro Monte and Campo dei Fiori, aiding in the maturation of the grapes and enhancing the wines' aromatic profiles. The vineyard primarily cultivates Nebbiolo and Merlot, along with Syrah, Vespolina, and Croatina for reds, and Chardonnay, Erbaluce, and small quantities of Riesling and Malvasia for whites.
