Morisfarms
About the Winery
Nearly three hundred years ago, the Moris family left Spain for the Tuscan Maremma, a divine land with great potential for wine production: a dream come true. A fresh and genuine love for a still virgin land, barely touched by the cumbersome presence of man, yet rich in extraordinary natural resources whose value could be enhanced by doting hands. First and foremost, the Moris family’s love and splendid passion are for the wine that, in this countryside, finds its ideal environment.
The history of our farm has maintained a simple but profound truth: quality products are made with care and dedication by people who love what they have chosen to do.
We hope you find this passion enshrined in every bottle Morisfarms offers you.
About the Wines
Having dedicated itself to agriculture for more than 5 generations, the Moris family has since focused its attention and ambitions on viticulture, finding in it the greatest satisfaction.
The Moris family maintains two estates that support its wine production: the historical headquarters near the town of Massa Marittima called “Poggetti” and another near the town of Grosseto called “Poggio la Mozza” since 1971.
Poggetti consists of 37 hectares of vineyards planted in clay soil with an altitude varying from 80 to 100 meters above sea level and a South-West exposure. Its proximity to the sea lends MorisFarms’ white wines a particularly appreciated salinity and minerality.
The red wines are characterized by rich tannins and great personality. Poggio la Mozza lies entirely in the district of D.O.C.G. Morellino di Scansano. It's 35 hectares of vineyards are planted in sandy soils at an altitude of about 100 meters above sea level. This gives rise to red wines with soft, elegant tannins.
