About Winery and Wines

DUAS ÁRVORES was born to celebrate the friendship and the dream of two old friends, José and Luiz, to rescue their portuguese ancestry. The brand name Duas Árvores (two trees in Portuguese), was inspired by the family names of the two friends, both corresponding typical trees of the Douro region, Castanheira (Chestnut) and Oliveira (Olive Tree). The adventure began in 2012 with the acquisition of Quinta da Marcela in the heart of the Douro Valley, the oldest demarcated and regulated wine-growing region in the world, classified as World Heritage by UNESCO in 2001. Framed in a beautiful landscape and surrounded by prestigious wineries, Quinta da Marcela is located in the majestic Vale Mendiz, in the parish of Celeirós close to the old village of Sabrosa.

In its 16 ha of vineyards we find traditional Douro varieties such as: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Amarela, Sousão, Tinta Roriz, Alicante Boushet, Mourisco, Tinta Barroca, Viosinho, Rabigato, and others. The different exposures of the vineyard, the different micro-climates , cold and rainy winters and very hot and dry summers, with fresh nights, result in a unique Terroir to obtain unique, elegant and high quality wines.
