I Fabbri di Susanna Grassi

Winery in Chianti, Chianti Classico

About the Winery

Agricola I Fabbri is a winery deeply rooted in the traditions and values of the Grassi family, whose history in this land spans several centuries. Founded in 2000 by sisters Susanna and Maddalena Grassi, the winery is named after the blacksmith's forge ("fabbri" in Italian) that once operated in the village overlooking their vineyards—a nod to the family’s heritage in both farming and craftsmanship. Located in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, Agricola I Fabbri is dedicated to producing exceptional wines that reflect the unique terroir of their 9 hectares of specialized DOCG vineyards, some of which are planted on historic terraces.

Situated at an elevation of 550 meters above sea level, the estate also includes 2 hectares of olive groves, from which they produce high-quality olive oil. The Grassi sisters are passionate about sharing the excellence of their wines and olive oil with discerning connoisseurs. Visitors to Agricola I Fabbri can immerse themselves in the rich history of the Chianti region, exploring the vineyards and experiencing the dedication that goes into every bottle produced at this family-run estate.

About the Wines

At Agricola I Fabbri, the wines are a true expression of the Chianti Classico region, crafted with a deep respect for tradition and the land. The winery focuses on producing high-quality red wines that showcase the richness and complexity of their vineyards.

Chianti Classico DOCG: This flagship wine is made from Sangiovese grapes grown in the historic terraces of Lamole. It offers vibrant red fruit flavors with balanced acidity and fine tannins, making it a quintessential expression of the Chianti Classico terroir.

Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG: Aged for an extended period, this wine is a more complex and refined version of the Chianti Classico. It presents deeper flavors of dark cherry, leather, and spice, with a long and elegant finish that speaks to its aging potential.

Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG: The pinnacle of Agricola I Fabbri’s production, this wine is made from the best grapes of the estate and undergoes a meticulous winemaking process. It is rich, full-bodied, and layered with flavors of black fruit, herbs, and a touch of oak, offering a sophisticated and memorable tasting experience.

Tuscan IGT Red: This wine is a blend that combines Sangiovese with other indigenous or international varieties, resulting in a versatile and approachable wine with soft tannins and a fruit-forward profile.

Each wine from Agricola I Fabbri is a testament to the Grassi sisters' dedication to quality and their commitment to preserving the unique characteristics of the Chianti Classico region. Whether enjoyed young or aged, these wines offer a true taste of the land and the legacy of this historic family estate.

Wonderful experience!
We were introduced to the wine production process and it was explained to us what makes Chianti wine so special.
The wine tasting was super good and several wines came home with us.
Susanna di Grassi + family are super lovely and a heartfelt recommendation. The winery is currently run by the eleventh generation.

A beautiful experience
We were able to taste the local wines and the service was impeccable. Susanna, extremely knowledgeable, explained to us in detail how they are made and the entire production process through to the sale.
Excellent food, paired with the wines.
Definitely a beautiful experience immersed in the Tuscan hills that gives you a wonderful memory.
I absolutely recommend it.

A wonderful experience
We did the cooking class with 7 friends during a weekend spent in Chianti.
The Castello di Lamole, perfectly restored, speaks of stories of sweat and love for the land, uninterrupted for generations; today it's Susanna's turn, who, while sipping the excellent wine produced by her company, tells you all about the life of the place with interesting and fun details.
The class is simple (most of us are beginners at the stove, we had asked for it to be so) and offers recipes that can be repeated once back home.
Alessia, the chef-instructor, is clear, attentive, and patient, and she radiates genuineness and warmth.
We spent almost 6 hours with them, having for dinner what we had cooked and tasting pretty much the entire production, from the fresh rosé, moving on to the Chianti Classico, and finishing with the Riservas.
10 out of 10 with honors.
