Tasca D Almerita

Winery in Etna

About the Winery

Fire, lava stone, wind, and sea: Etna embodies nature in its most radical form. Experiencing Tenuta Tascante is the ideal way to immerse yourself in one of the world’s most powerful terroirs, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2013.

The vineyards offer extraordinary views over a landscape that stretches from the volcano’s peaks to the Alcantara River valley, all unfolding in harmony with a flourishing natural environment.

A vibrant beauty, endlessly renewed by the volcano’s generosity — a land whose fiery soul captured the heart of Alberto Tasca d'Almerita and his family.

The story of Tasca d'Almerita began in 1830, in the heart of Sicily at Regaleali, and continues today across five enchanting estates scattered throughout the island, guided with devotion and vision by the eighth generation of the Tasca family.

About the Wines

Buonora – Etna Bianco DOC
Historically used for its acidity and productivity, Carricante is today considered one of the most interesting and multifaceted grape varieties of Etna. This wine expresses remarkable minerality, subtle sulfurous notes, and, with aging, delicate hints of petrol. It is a true expression of the vertical character of Etna wines and reflects the unique nature of the volcanic landscape from which it originates.

C’eragià – Sicilia DOC
Produced from a small one-acre vineyard in the Contrada Rampante, this wine represents our interpretation of Chardonnay grown on the slopes of Mount Etna. The idea of cultivating one of the world’s most renowned international grape varieties in this volcanic environment was both challenging and fascinating. About 5,000 bottles are produced, aged in French Chassin oak barrels crafted by small family cooperages.

Ghiaia Nera – Etna Rosso DOC
Born from the interaction between Nerello Mascalese and Etna’s volcanic soils, this wine comes from vineyards cultivated on terraces surrounded by chestnut and downy oak groves in a rich and biodiverse landscape. It offers soft tannins, vibrant freshness, and great drinkability. The wine is aged in large, non-invasive Slavonian oak barrels, perfectly suited to highlight the elegance of Nerello Mascalese.

Contrada Rampante – Etna Rosso DOC
A single-vineyard wine from the Contrada Rampante district, where Nerello Mascalese vines thrive thanks to the unique soil composition and ideal sun exposure. Vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by aging in 25-hectolitre Slavonian oak barrels. The aromatic profile reveals delicate fruit notes that evolve into pronounced earthy and forest-floor nuances. On the palate, the wine is rich and savory, with fine-grained yet firm tannins and a distinctive, pleasantly meaty finish.
