Tenuta Monteti
About the Winery
Tenuta Monteti’s journey started in 1998 when Gemma and Paolo Baratta found their ideal location in the lower Maremma, Tuscany. Situated 15 km from the sea and protected by Monteti Hill, the 28 hectares of vineyards benefit from an excellent microclimate. With soils rich in stones and clay, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Alicante Bouschet thrive here, developing unique expressions. Under the leadership of their daughter Eva and her husband Javier Pedrazzini since 2010, the estate focuses on manual harvesting, gravity-fed production, and a commitment to environmental sustainability. In 2017, the estate earned "Sustainable Wine" certification for Caburnio and Monteti as part of the V.I.V.A. program by Italy’s Ministry of the Environment.
About the Wines
The 28 hectares of vineyards at Tenuta Monteti are divided into four contiguous sections, enjoying excellent south-eastern and south-western exposure. The soil is characterized by a stony, clay-rich structure, which ensures good drainage while retaining moisture and coolness deep below. Monteti Hill shields the vines from direct Mediterranean winds, creating an optimal microclimate that allows the vineyards to benefit from their proximity to the sea. The gravity-based production process preserves the integrity of the grapes and wine by avoiding stressful pumping methods.
Tenuta Monteti produces three exceptional wines that reflect the unique Maremma terroir:
Monteti IGT Toscana: A blend of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon, aged for 18-22 months in French oak, delivering complexity, depth, and elegance.
Caburnio IGT Toscana: Featuring Cabernet Sauvignon, Alicante Bouschet, and Merlot, this wine balances freshness with complexity, matured partially in steel and French oak for 12-18 months.
TM Rosé IGT Toscana: A delicate, fresh rosé with 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Mourvèdre, ideal for seafood dishes or as an aperitif.
