Terre d'Aquesia
About the Winery
Terre d'Aquesia was founded in 2019 in Acquapendente, located in a fascinating borderland where Lazio, Umbria, and Tuscany seamlessly meet. Here, along the ancient Via Francigena and surrounded by a pristine landscape dominated by the Bosco del Sasseto, the Monte Rufeno Nature Reserve, and the silent profile of Monte Amiata, a highly conscious and passionate winemaking project comes to life. The soul of the winery is Vincenzo Adduci, who, after a long and successful career as a chemical engineer in the pharmaceutical and petrochemical sectors, chose to follow his true calling, earning a degree in viticulture and oenology to dedicate himself entirely to the land.
Nestled in the rolling hills just a few kilometers from the historic center of Acquapendente, the winery sees wine as a key to understanding the rich territory of Tuscia. Hospitality at Terre d'Aquesia is far from the usual standardized tours: welcoming wine tourists means sharing a method, telling the story of a place, and restoring the centrality of agricultural work. Every visit and tasting is an invitation to slow down, an opportunity for genuine encounter and learning, where both enthusiasts and professionals can discover how wine is the result of precise choices, deeply rooted in the landscape and culture that shaped it.
About the Wines
The wines of Terre d'Aquesia are the direct, sincere expression of an extraordinary territory. The ten hectares of vineyards stretch across south/south-east facing hillsides at an altitude of 300 to 350 meters. The clay-loam soils give the wines remarkable structure and complexity, while the climate—characterized by hot, breezy summers and cool nights—promotes perfect balance and aromatic development. Grown using the spurred cordon method, native varieties such as Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo, and Grechetto della Tuscia coexist harmoniously with noble international grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.
The production philosophy places the vineyard at the center of every decision, following strict organic farming practices to minimize environmental impact. Green manure in alternate rows, targeted fertilization, and respectful pruning methods preserve the vitality and longevity of the vines. In the cellar, every intervention is carefully measured: the grapes are hand-selected and vinified separately in small and medium-sized fermenters to respect the identity of each specific parcel. Aging strictly follows the nature of the wine, alternating between stainless steel to preserve freshness and aromas, and used barriques for red wines destined for long evolution. At Terre d'Aquesia, wine is never a product to be simplified, but the result of study, perseverance, and cultural exploration. It is a journey to be undertaken with respect, just like a pilgrim who observes, learns, and gives profound meaning to his passage.
