Vineria del Carmine

Winery in Hills of Perugia

About the Winery

Nestled in the picturesque valley of Chiesa del Carmine, this is a historic estate with a rich tradition of winemaking. The valley has long been recognized for its exceptional terroir, and in 1974, renowned American journalist Burton Anderson praised the region’s fine white wines in Wine Spectator. Today, we continue this legacy, guided by one of Italy's top enologists, Giovanni Dubini. Initially, we produced wine solely for our guests and a few local establishments, but due to growing demand, we expanded our operations.

Our vineyard spans 5.7 hectares, comprising 1.2 hectares of Sangiovese, 1 hectare of Sagrantino, 1 hectare of Merlot, less than half a hectare of Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2.2 hectares of Trebbiano Indigeno. We adhere to organic farming principles and focus on sustainable, meticulous vineyard practices. Our low-yield vines are carefully nurtured without irrigation, ensuring that they fully express the richness of our rocky, sun-drenched soil. This commitment to the land and respect for nature contribute to the complexity and distinct minerality of our wines, creating an unforgettable tasting experience for visitors.

About the Wines

At Chiesa del Carmine, we produce six distinctive wines that reflect the diversity and quality of our vineyard. Our range includes Indigeno Trebbiano (white), Il Campanile, Rosso del Carmine, Bell'Angelo (reds), Rosabella della Chiesa, and Rosa della Chiesa (rosés).

Sustainable practices in both the vineyard and winery play a crucial role in our production process, allowing us to craft wines with authentic character. Visitors from all over the world come to appreciate the refined elegance of our wines, which offer a true reflection of the land’s unique qualities.

Everything perfect
Excellent tasting, quality wines and a fantastic lunch, designed to perfectly accompany the tasting. The explanations that allow even novices to discover the wines of this winery were much appreciated, all in a wonderful place. Highly recommended

Splendid place and excellent tasting
The Vineria del Carmine is nestled in the hills around Umbertide in a truly splendid place. The oil and wine tasting was very good, excellent-level organic wines. The buildings where the tasting takes place have also been beautifully renovated, making the atmosphere warm and pleasant.

Fantastic experience!
Everything was very beautiful! The location surrounded by greenery, the style of the tasting room. Besides the winery's wine tastings, we were also pleasantly impressed by the lunch included in the tasting, many truly remarkable flavors and pairings. Personally, I appreciated the Trebbiano and their flagship red.

Excellent tasting of excellent wines, delicious snacks, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Our personal note of satisfaction: “il campanile,” a great product starting from its aroma.
