"Essence" escape: 1 night at Agriturismo Cesani in San Gimignano

Spend one night at Agriturismo Cesani in Pancole, just 6 km from the historic center of San Gimignano, surrounded by the vineyards and olive groves of the family estate. The Cesani family has been rooted in this countryside since the early 1950s, and today wine production and rural hospitality share the same setting.

For your overnight stay, you can choose between Standard, Comfort or Superior rooms, according to the option selected. The Standard rooms, located in La Casa dei Colori, are simple and welcoming, with a traditional Tuscan rustic style. The Comfort rooms, also in La Casa dei Colori, are more spacious and feature recently renovated bathrooms. For a more private stay, the Superior rooms are located in La Casa dei Fiori and offer an independent entrance and a private patio overlooking the Tuscan countryside. All room categories include a private bathroom, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, fridge, TV, kettle and breakfast.

The wine experience included in the package is Cesani’s Classic Tasting. The experience begins with a guided visit to the winery, where you are introduced to the estate’s production philosophy, before continuing with the tasting of 5 organic wines in the cozy tasting room. During the warmer months, the tasting may instead be served on the panoramic terrace overlooking the Tuscan countryside. The selection gives you a clear introduction to the wines of San Gimignano and the surrounding Tuscan hills. You will taste 2 white Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG wines, showing different expressions of the native white grape most closely associated with this territory. The flight continues with a Tuscan rosé, followed by Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG, a Sangiovese-based red, and an IGT Toscana Sangiovese red. The individual labels may vary according to cellar availability, while the tasting retains this five-wine structure.

The wines are accompanied by Cesani’s extra virgin olive oil and a traditional Tuscan board with prosciutto crudo, Tuscan salami and pecorino cheese. These simple local flavors give context to the wines without turning the experience into a formal pairing. The rest of your stay is free, giving you time to explore San Gimignano and the surrounding Tuscan countryside at your own pace. During the seasonal opening period, you can also enjoy the agriturismo’s swimming pool.

The following morning, breakfast is included, with a sweet and savory selection that can include fresh bread, homemade-style cakes, eggs, Tuscan cured meats, cheeses, tomatoes and other seasonal vegetables, fresh fruit, jams and preserves, together with hot and cold drinks before departure.
