"Essence" escape: 1 night at MonteTondo Winery in Soave

Your overnight stay takes place at Monte Tondo, an estate run by the Magnabosco family just a short distance from the medieval center of Soave. The winery is a unique starting point to explore two of Verona's most important wine territories, Soave and Valpolicella, from a single location.

Upon arrival, you'll be welcomed with a glass of Soave before checking into your room, which is equipped with air conditioning, a TV, and a minibar. During your stay, you have access to the common areas, a professional coffee machine, and, from May to September, an outdoor swimming pool set in a garden among olive trees. Breakfast is also included.

Your wine experience begins with a tour led by a member of the hospitality team. You'll visit the outdoor historical museum, see the fermentation, winemaking, and bottling areas, and conclude in the barrel room. The tour explains how the Magnabosco family works across two distinct terroirs.

After the visit, you'll move to the Tasting Room for a seated tasting of three wines: two expressions of white Soave Classico and one red Valpolicella. The tasting highlights the fresh, mineral character of the volcanic and limestone-rich hills around Soave, including the Monte Foscarino cru, before shifting to the red wine tradition of Valpolicella. The wines are paired with Monte Tondo's own extra virgin olive oil, breadsticks, and toasted crostini.

The remainder of your time is yours to explore the area. The walled village and castle of Soave are a short drive away, while Verona is about 30 minutes by car. You can also visit the Lessinia hills or reach Lake Garda in under an hour.

The rest of your stay is free to explore Soave and the surrounding Veronese countryside at your own pace. The medieval centre of Soave, with its walled village and hilltop castle, is only a short drive away and is the natural place to begin. You can also continue through the nearby wine hills, visit other local producers, or head towards Verona, around 30 minutes away by car. For a different kind of day out, the Lessinia hills and the fossil area of Bolca are also within reach, while Lake Garda can be reached in under an hour.
