When is the best time to go?
Autumn: the harvest runs in September and October, and afterwards the best Valpolicella grapes are laid out to dry for months before they become Amarone. Late spring and summer are the season for the pools at Tenuta Le Cave, Monte Tondo, Al Capitello and Ai Carpini.
Do you need a car?
Yes, for all six. Verona airport is the closest for Valpolicella and Soave; Venice and Treviso are the airports for the Prosecco hills, and a transfer can be added to the Cison weekend.
