"Essence" Weekend near Modena: Two-night food, wine & Ferrari escape at Opera02 Wine Resort

Your two-night stay begins at Opera02, a wine resort in the hills of Levizzano di Castelvetro, about 30 minutes from Modena. This will be your base for a weekend connecting three of the area's best-known identities: Lambrusco Grasparossa, Parmigiano Reggiano, and Ferrari.

On your first afternoon, the 75-minute Emilia Experience introduces you to Opera02’s organic winery and acetaia. A member of the hospitality team will guide you through the estate’s wine production, focusing on Lambrusco Grasparossa, before you move into the acetaia to see the traditional wooden batterie used for ageing Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena. The tour continues in the tasting room with two organic Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro DOP wines. Alongside the wines, you will taste three balsamic vinegars of different ages, accompanied by Parmigiano Reggiano DOP and focaccia with Prosciutto Crudo di Modena DOP. Your evening is free to dine at Opera02 or explore the restaurants of nearby Castelvetro.

After breakfast the following morning, you will visit Bio Reggiani, a producer of organic Parmigiano Reggiano. Guided by a member of the dairy team, you'll follow the production process from the farm's milk and cheesemaking stages to the brining and the ageing warehouse. You will then continue to Modena, with time to explore the historic center and have lunch independently. The Duomo, Ghirlandina Tower, and Piazza Grande form the city’s UNESCO-listed heart. In the afternoon, the focus shifts to speed at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello, where road cars and racing technology tell the story of one of Italy's most recognizable names.

The final morning is deliberately slower. After breakfast, you will enjoy one hour in Opera02’s wellness area, which includes a Finnish sauna, Turkish bath, emotional shower, ice waterfall, and a relaxation area.

During summer, the infinity pool and panoramic sun terrace are also available. Mountain bikes can also be used to explore the surrounding countryside before your departure.
