Ottima esperienza!

Ottimo last minute

47 years ago brothers Franco Pontiglione, Carlo Pontiglione and Giuseppe Priola, established the Belcolle winery; it was a dream that became true, it was a bet won. Diligence and dedication have borne results: many awards in national and international magazines: Gambero Rosso, Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast and many customers and lovers around the world. From August 2015 Belcolle became part of Bosio family from Santo Stefano Belbo, 4 generations of winemakers that with great entrepreneurial initiative have created Bosio Family Estates, a family owned group that preserves their assets as a heritage to be shared with the world.
VERDUNO, THE NOBLE AND FEMININE CHARACTER OF THE LANGHE Verduno is a sudden, elevated flick of the earth, an unexpected brush stroke that paints a prominent green hillside over the surrounding landscape. Seen from the north, it is the first edge of the Barolo hills rising from the plain of Alba, or, on the opposite side, the last offshoot of the Langhe before the Tanaro River separates them from the Roero. Verduno is a secluded land, a sunny borderland where vines climb sharp bricks and tumble into valleys punctuated by forests. The profile of the hills follows the curve of the Tanaro River between Roddi and La Morra, in an embrace that marks the beginning of Piedmont's greatest wine lands, there where viticulture reaches unparalleled heights of excellence. Along the scenic road that divides the hamlets of Rivalta and Santa Maria di La Morra, stands the Bel Colle winery. About 10 hectares of property that insist on the geological masterpiece of the Langhe, those gray-blue marls interspersed with sands and precious fossil elements that have created timeless oenological masterpieces such as Barolo. Verduno is also a borderland from a geological point of view. The western side of its hills, the one that slopes gently to the banks of the Tanaro River, has younger soils, characterized by alternating clay marls and layers of chalk in large crystals. The wines produced here welcome this wonderful complexity by expressing themselves in extremely elegant and intensely perfumed forms, giving Barolo wines played on delicacy and finesse, with a noble and feminine character. VINEYARDS Bel Colle cultivates 10 hectares between Verduno, the Langhe hills and the Astigiano area. The estate's vineyards include some of Barolo's most prestigious Geographical Mentions: the vineyards of Monvigliero - a true expression of elegance and finesse - and Borgo Castagni in Verduno; Bussia, in Monforte d'Alba, one of the world's best-known cru of the "King of Wines." In the hills of Barbaresco, Bel Colle leads the vineyards of Menzione Pajorè, famous for its austere and robust, yet harmoniously elegant wines. The vineyard of Turna Lunga, in Santo Stefano Belbo, is the place of choice for Moscato d'Asti; while Barbera d'Asti finds its vocation in the hills of Bionzo, which represent the first ridge of the Langa Astigiana. PELAVERGA, THE RARE NATIVE OF VERDUNO Verduno's icon is Pelaverga, a rare native grape variety that is grown in a restricted area around the municipality of the same name, within one of Italy's smallest appellations. Introduced to the territory in the 17th century, it has found a particular vocation here. It gives wines with a typical soft ruby red color, graceful and delicate, but well-structured thanks to a perfect balance between acidity and tannins. Peculiarity of Verduno Pelaverga is its aromatic profile: a complex bouquet that blends hints of small red fruits with spicy nuances, on which, unforgettable on tasting, is the note of white pepper. A HYMN TO TRADITION Bel Colle is Italy's largest producer of Verduno Pelaverga. The iconic label, which features a painting by Alba painter Pinot Gallizio, is a tribute to the tradition of this generous land, a hymn to the small native productions that have made the Langhe world famous for their ability to express infinite differences. It is vinified with absolute respect for the original grape variety, keeping intact its ringing fragrance, from whose hints of cherry and violet emerges the characteristic spicy note, the unmistakable hallmark of this very rare wine of terroir. MONVIGLIERO An Additional Geographical Mention of Barolo, Monvigliero has always been considered the "Grand Cru" of the commune of Verduno, as well as one of the most prestigious vineyards of the entire appellation. A natural amphitheater facing southwest characterized by a particularly dry climate and light, loose soils that push the vines to give their best. From Monvigliero come iconic Barolos for finesse and elegance that, while not renouncing a hint of austerity, prove to be true sons of the Verduno lands thanks to one of the widest and most complex aromatic ranges of the entire appellation, played in particular on notes of flowers and spices. >> From this grape variety comes our Barolo Docg Monvigliero BUSSIA Only recently included among Bel Colle's cultivation plots, Bussia is the most famous vineyard in Monforte d'Alba, a true icon of Barolo whose best characteristics it represents. An area of absolute value that Bel Colle has the honor of cultivating in one of its highest portions, near the village of the same name, with excellent south-southwest exposure. Here the nebbiolo vine reaches unparalleled heights of intensity and elegance. The marly soils meet a limestone matrix that expresses complex, sumptuous and excellently structured Barolo, with a slight savory note that enhances its freshness. >> From this grape variety comes our Barolo Docg Bussia BORGO CASTAGNI The vineyards of Borgo Castagni include the plots that extend around the Bel Colle winery, on the border between the municipalities of Verduno and La Morra. They are divided between two Barolo Geographical Mentions, that of Castagni, below La Morra, and that of Neirane, in the Verduno district. The west-facing exposure, cool climate and good altitude express in the wines a unique olfactory array of intensity and persistence, marked by good freshness. Excellent structure is combined with extreme elegance. A peculiarity of Borgo Neirane is the presence of clay-limestone soils, characterized by veins of chalk, which give the Barolo and Verduno Pelaverga wines produced here a decidedly more intense chromatic heritage, of excellent aromatic breadth and unsuspected sapidity. >> From this vineyard come our Nebbiolo d'Alba Doc La Reala & Verduno Pelaverga Doc PAJORÈ A Barbaresco Geographical Mention, it is one of the appellation's most renowned crus. It enjoys a well-established reputation thanks in part to the cult wines of Giovanni Moresco (now almost unobtainable), who first vinified it in purity in 1967. The rows have a very steep, almost terraced layout that enhances the excellent south, southwest exposure. Soils, elevations and exposure give Barbaresco of absolute class, classic and elegant structure, well delineated and deeply balanced. >> From this grape variety comes our Barbaresco Docg Pajorè TURNA LUNGA Turna Lunga is a magnificent vineyard in Valdivilla, a hamlet of Santo Stefano Belbo, located on one of the most spectacular ridges of the eastern Langhe, on the border with, entirely planted with Moscato. In Piedmontese dialect, the "turne" are the pieces of rows of vines that, Astigiano interspersed with the capezzagne, punctuate the slope of the hills, turning on the edge of the horizon. The extreme slope of Turna Lunga, around 35 percent, makes viticulture strenuous and heroic, exclusively manual. It is from this vineyard that we obtain our Moscato d'Asti Turna Lunga, a single vineyard wine of extreme elegance, obtained by fermentation with indigenous country yeasts, the result of a pied de cuve prepared beforehand from the vineyard's harvested and crushed bunches. A wine of great emotional impact, fresh and balanced, sweet and never cloying, intimately linked to its terroir. >> From this grape variety comes our Moscato d'Asti Docg Turna Lunga BIONZO, ASTIGIANO Bel Colle leads about one hectare of Barbera in Bionzo, a small town overlooking the Tinella Valley, which divides the hills of the eastern Langhe from the Monferrato Astigiano. The rows rise in a hot, well-exposed area that is extremely dry, inducing the clusters to ripen early and have great concentrations. This is where Barbera d'Asti Docg Superiore Nuwanda, an Indian term for the "Spirit of Strength," was born. A single vineyard of great power, full-bodied, rightly alcoholic, which while preserving the acidity of the Barbera grape variety is expressed according to an all-Mediterranean warmth, full and enveloping, with fruity and persistent hints. >> From this grape variety comes our Barbera d'Asti Docg Superiore Nuwanda VESIME, ALTA LANGA In Vesime, a small village in the Bormida Valley, Bel Colle owns a vineyard planted with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. It was one of the first vineyards, in the 1980s, to be planted with these varieties: an experimental polyclonal plot, created to inaugurate the Alta Langa project, the Metodo Classico that would represent Piedmont. The extraordinary genetic heritage of this vineyard results in differently ripened grapes, which must be harvested in several passes. But it contributes to an unparalleled richness of expression, resulting in a Metodo Classico of surprising finesse, fullness of aroma and just the right minerality. >> From this grape variety come our Alta Langa Docg Cuvée Valentina Pas Dosé & Alta Langa Docg Cuvée Valentina
