Vi var sex goda vänner som besökte Castello di Roncade för rundvandring och för att både prova och lära oss mer om vin och särskilt Prosecco! Vår guide, Pia från Danmark, var fantastisk och både berättade och lät oss testa de bästa av viner! Till det underbart goda charkprodukter och ostar! En oförglömlig eftermiddag när den är som bäst! Kan verkligen rekommendera ett besök här i denna vackra omgivning. Finns också möjlighet att övernatta, även om vi inte gjorde det. Vi åkte lokalbuss 27 från Treviso där vi även hyrde ett fantastiskt boende.

When we arrived at exactly 3pm, we were told there were no bookings at that time and the small tasting area was full. Not a great start eh?! I pressed a little harder and showed the manager our booking email and he said ‘that’s for Porto’. It was 100% for Lisbon. I corrected him and he said for us to wait. 10-15 mins later a table became available and eventually we received 3 small ports and a whistlestop explanation of the 3 ports (white, ruby & tawny). We never received our pastel de nata’s…. With the benefit of hindsight, this tourist-trap is located 50m from where the cruise ships dock. It’s not authentic, but felt newly constructed to flog port to the lazy tourists. This isn’t Porto (ie the genuine Port region), avoid - unless you’re a lazy, cruise-ship passenger.

I went in expecting to drink some good wine while learning of what makes it what is is, and that is exactly what I received. The experience was very personal, as the group for the visit consisted only of my boyfriend and I. This is also a small winery (15000 bottles a year) which makes the experience feel even more unique.

Great experience, very authentic and personal. It didn’t feel like one of the big commercial companies that are just trying to sell you a product.
