Cellar Tour & Wine Tasting at Castello di Coiano in Castelfiorentino, Chianti

Tommaso, the owner of Castello di Coiano, will personally welcome you to the estate. He leads every tour, offering a direct account of the castle's history and winemaking.

The experience begins with a visit to the historic cellar, set 19 meters underground. Here, among 27 oak tonneaux, you'll learn about a space so significant it was awarded a Gold Medal in 1885. The tour continues to the Vinsantaia, where Vinsanto ages in traditional small barrels called "caratelli", and the old oil mill, which still houses its ancient stone presses.

After the tour, your guided tasting takes place. In warmer weather, it's held outdoors on the panoramic terrace, in the historic garden, or in the farmyard. During cooler months or hot summer days, you'll be in the comfortable, air-conditioned tasting room. Taste five Castello di Coiano wines, including a 100% Trebbiano, a savory 100% Vermentino, the Chianti "Ser Riccomanno" DOCG, "Il Peccato" IGT Rosso, and the traditional Vinsanto del Chianti DOC.

The wines are served with a platter of Tuscan prosciutto, salami, and mortadella, alongside fresh and aged local pecorino cheeses. You'll also be served bruschetta with Castello di Coiano's own extra virgin olive oil, fresh schiacciata, and artisanal cantuccini biscuits to pair with the Vinsanto. For children and teenagers, non-alcoholic drinks and a snack of schiacciata and simple bruschetta are included.
