Panoramic Platinum Wine Tasting with Food at Borghetti Giampiero in Valpolicella
Here is what's in store for you
Your tasting takes place at the Borghetti Giampiero winery, set on the panoramic hill of the medieval village of Castelrotto, considered the “KM Zero” of Valpolicella Classica. The winery is housed in Casa dei Fraccaroli, a historic residence that has belonged to the Fraccaroli family since 1790.
A sommelier will welcome you with an introduction to the family's history and the surrounding territory. Designed as a relaxed aperitif, the experience unfolds in a setting chosen based on the season: the indoor tasting room, beneath the panoramic pergola, or on the terrace with views across the Valpolicella hills towards Verona.
You will taste five wines from the family's Castrum Platinum Collection, a selection created as a tribute to their ancestor, the 19th-century sculptor Innocenzo Fraccaroli. The flight includes a Valpolicella DOC Classico, Valpolicella Ripasso, Corvina, Amarone, and Recioto. The wines are served with a platter of Grana Padano cheese, Prosciutto crudo, and a traditional sbrisolona cake. A gourmet platter with aged meats and cheeses is also available as an upgrade.

Classic Valpolicella in an almost private winery!
Our guide was very helpful and outgoing, we really appreciated being able to speak freely without being limited to just listening.
The winery is small, and the wine is mainly destined for export... so it was all the more a rare experience to be able to taste Valpolicella Superiore, Ripasso and Amarone... it's impossible to find them elsewhere!
It is by seeking out these small operations (40 thousand bottles in total per year) and preferring them to the giants of large-scale distribution that we choose to preserve the extraordinary craftsmanship of our country, and on every trip we try to discover these little gems and, in our own small way, make them known to friends and family.
Right at the beginning of the tasting with a view, a rather challenging thunderstorm appeared... but the facility's staff were very quick to set everything up inside and have us start the tasting all over again from the beginning.
The platter of cured meats and cheeses was truly rich and complete, we even had some left over because we were full!
We were really happy with the choice we made, and we definitely recommend it!
