Wine Holidays in France
A wine holiday in France is a stay of one or more nights among the vineyards, usually at the estate itself: a winery, a wine resort or a farm stay, from a wine weekend to a longer trip. Nearly all of them include a wine tasting, and some add dinner or visits to other wineries. On Winedering you'll find 10 stays, with prices from €65 to €1,650.
The wine areas with packages to book are Loire Valley, Touraine, Bordeaux, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Beaune, Burgundy and Route de Gran Crus.
You can also browse them by area: Centre Region, Bourgogne-Franche-Comte, Aquitaine-Limousin-Poitou-Charentes, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region, Alsace-Champagne-Ardenne-Lorraine and Languedoc-Roussillon-Midi-Pyrenees.
Wine tasting weekends in France: winery stays from Burgundy to the Loire
This page lists 10 wine holidays in five French wine regions: Burgundy, Bordeaux, the Loire Valley, Languedoc and Alsace. Most last one or two nights; the longest are the Burgundy trips of 3 and 5 nights.
Where can you stay at a winery in France?
- La Terre d'Or, in Beaune (Burgundy): a B&B that organises guided visits to the villages and cellars of the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits, with transport, tastings and some lunches, over 3 or 5 nights.
- Les Pierres d'Aurèle, at Saint-Georges-sur-Cher in the Loire Valley (Touraine): one night with a tasting of 5 wines, two nights in a vineyard cottage with dinner, or a day of seasonal work in the vineyard with lunch and a tasting, always with a bottle to take home.
- Château Pierre de Montignac, in the Médoc (Bordeaux): a night at the estate's guesthouse, a welcome bottle, a vineyard and cellar tour and a tasting of 3 wines.
- La Vie Française, near Saint-Émilion (Bordeaux): a one-night small-group getaway with a winemaker's lunch, an e-bike ride through the vineyards, an evening at a vineyard spa and a guided visit of Saint-Émilion.
- Grand Guilhem, in the Corbières (Languedoc): an organic estate that makes natural wines, with a visit to a vineyard plot planted in 1892, a tasting of 7 wines and a night in the estate house.
- Gourmet Wine Weekend in Alsace: a night at a 4-star hotel in Baldersheim with a wellness area and a five-course dinner, plus a cellar visit and tasting at Domaine Specht in Mittelwihr, on the Alsace Wine Route.
Which stay suits a first trip to Burgundy?
La Terre d'Or, because everything is organised: guides, transport and tastings at small and large producers in villages such as Pommard, Volnay, Meursault and Vougeot. Dinners are not included; the hosts suggest restaurants.
When is the best time to go?
From May to October. The harvest usually falls in September and early October. The Climats, the vineyard plots of Burgundy, are a UNESCO World Heritage site, and so is the Saint-Émilion wine area.
Do you need a car?
Not for La Terre d'Or, which includes transport during the visits, or for La Vie Française, which picks you up at the station in Bordeaux, Libourne, Saint-Émilion or Castillon. For the others, yes: in Alsace the winery is about 30 minutes by car from the hotel.
