Wonderful tasting experience that was like an educational lunch

Rate: 5 out of 5 9/1/25
The tasting at Alagna Vini is an outstanding experience. A sampling of at least 15 different wines with appropriate carefully prepared accompaniments. The pouring was left to the discretion of the tasters and there was never a pitch or pressure to buy. The presentation was informative and interesting and the interaction with the family members of the company and the employees was warm, polite and comfortable. The price of both the tasting and the products was extremely reasonable and we would highly recommend the experience.

Esperienza molto gradevole. Cantina piccola, ma molto bella. Vini molto buoni.

About Winery and Wines

The Alagna family winery combines tradition and modernity in producing wines that embody the rich flavors of Sicily. Established in Marsala, the winery focuses on cultivating native Sicilian grape varieties such as Zibibbo, Nero d’Avola, Grillo, Catarratto, Inzolia, and Damaschino. These varieties thrive in the province of Trapani’s unique microclimate, where the Alagna family’s vineyards cover approximately 50 hectares across Marsala, Mazara, Trapani, and Salemi. The estate balances traditional cultivation methods like the spur pruning cordon with modern mechanical harvesting techniques, all while minimizing environmental impact.

The winery’s capacity spans 50,000 hectolitres, stored in diverse containers such as steel, concrete, fibreglass, and large wooden barrels, ideal for aging their prestigious Marsala wines. Visitors can explore the medieval mine-turned-cellar, where ancient production techniques, including the Soleras method, are used to create Marsala. In these areas, it cultivates the grape varieties necessary for the production of its wines: Zibibbo, Nero d’Avola, Grillo, Catarratto, Inzolia and Damaschino
