The Baldetti name is deeply rooted in Tuscany, particularly in the territory of Cortona, where a strong connection to the land has been passed down through generations. Viticulture has always played a central role in the family’s history, gaining new momentum in the late 1960s when Mario Baldetti undertook a complete renewal of the vineyards and modernized the winery facilities for the time.

Initially, the wines were sold in bulk, but the early 1970s marked a turning point with the creation of the Bianco Vergine della Valdichiana DOC, which led to the beginning of bottled wine production. A further evolution came in 2000 with the establishment of the Cortona DOC, prompting the estate to replant its vineyards using the most advanced viticultural techniques, with a particular focus on Syrah—now the emblematic grape of the area.

In 2012, the family reached another milestone with the construction of a new, modern winery in Località Pietraia, strongly desired by Alfonso Baldetti and his sons Daniele and Gian Luca, who joined the business and continue to lead it toward a future of innovation and quality, while remaining deeply connected to tradition.

Baldetti wines are the result of dedication, expertise, and a deep respect for the vineyard. Every stage of production—from meticulous work in the vines to careful vinification in the cellar—is guided by a commitment to preserving and enhancing the natural characteristics of the grapes.

While each wine holds equal importance within the portfolio, Syrah stands out as the true protagonist of the Cortona area. The flagship label, Cortona DOC Syrah “Crano”, best expresses the winery’s identity, combining structure, elegance, and a strong territorial character.
