AZIENDA AGRICOLA IL POGGIOLO
About the Winery
Il Poggiolo Winery is located in the heart of the Versa Valley, in the Oltrepò Pavese region, at an altitude of approximately 300 meters above sea level. It is a family-run business where the Delmonte family has passed down their experience and passion for wine for four generations. The estate spans approximately 30 hectares, entirely planted with vineyards.
The winery devotes great attention to the care of its vineyards, adopting the principles of integrated agriculture, which means low environmental impact, rational use, and sustainability. All its labels are made entirely from grapes grown on the estate's own vineyards, and the foundation of its work is the understanding of how meticulous care throughout the entire production chain is essential to achieving the highest level of quality. The goal of the Il Poggiolo winery is therefore to produce modern wines that do not betray the memories, traditions, and expressions of the territory, channeling the potential of the Oltrepò Pavese within each bottle.
About the Wines
The main grape varieties grown are Pinot Noir and Croatina, which find ideal soil and climate conditions in Oltrepò to express their full potential. Among the white wines, the sparkling Metodo Classico Pinot Noir “Blanc de Noir” stands out, produced in both Extra Brut and Zero Dosage versions, as well as the Chardonnay “Blanc de Blanc” Extra Brut and the Metodo Martinotti Pinot Noir. The winery also produces Riesling DOC, Pinot Noir vinified as a Rosé IGP, Pinot Grigio IGP, and Malvasia IGP.
As for the red wines, there are three structured labels: Vicolo del Poggio, a late-harvest Croatina aged for 24 months in large French oak barrels and at least 12 months in the bottle before release; Ca’ Guastona, a Pinot Noir from the O.P. DOC, vinified as a red wine and aged for 12 months in French oak barriques followed by a minimum of 12 months in the bottle; and Amphora, a Merlot aged for 12 months in a terracotta amphora and at least 12 months in the bottle before release. The winery also produces Bonarda dell’Oltrepò Pavese DOC, Croatina IGP, and Barbera IGP.
