Wonderful wine tasting experience

We thoroughly enjoyed our wine tasting and lunch at this lovely vineyard, Christian, our guide was very friendly and helpful with the right balance of information and fun and they prepared a tasty fresh lunch with great pasta and interesting wine.
Taxi from hotel, as within the Siena city walls it seemed to be hard to organise taxis. They easily organised a taxi back to Siena from the vineyard for us.

Really an awesome experience, the great passion and knowledge of people working in the Azienda Agricola Alastra really make such a visit one of the most beautiful activities in Siena.
And the meal at the end it’s extremely good!

This was my first ever experience wine tasting, and it was the best! The tasty, homemade lunch, the sweet and knowledgeable staff, the delicious wines—the perfect combinations for an incredible experience.

Ci sono posti e persone che rimangono impresse nella mente e sicuramente la visita alla Lastra sarà una di queste. Il vino non è un semplice prodotto. Si certo, segue una specifica fase di produzione, ha una propria filiera, ma dietro di sè racchiude qualcosa di molto di più. Il vino è fatto di terra, cielo, vento, tempo e soprattutto il vino è fatto di persone. E la visita alla cantina La Lastra è un'esemplificazione di quanto non è tanto importante cosa bevi, ma CHI bevi. Renato e Nadia ci hanno aperto le porte della loro cantina, del loro agriturismo, della loro casa, ma anche un pò della loro vita e per questo mi sento di ringraziarli infinitamente, perchè quella che abbiamo fatto è una di quelle visite che restano nel cuore.
Vini fantastici, posto magnifico, persone vere. Meriterebbero 10 bicchieri, perchè 5 sono troppo pochi.

La Lastra is more than just a winery; it represents a vision for sustainable living that began in the early 1980s. Founded by a group of friends — Renato Spanu, Christian Betti, Enrico Paternoster, and Valerio Zorzi — who were deeply inspired by the beauty and history of the San Gimignano countryside, the project grew from their shared passion for viticulture and commitment to the land. Azienda Agricola La Lastra is a dedicated organic farming operation split between two locations: 7 hectares of vineyards in San Gimignano and 23 hectares near Siena, with 7 hectares of vineyards and 7 hectares of olive trees. The team’s passion for agriculture is evident in their meticulous care for the land, adhering strictly to organic practices. Red grape vinification occurs in their ancient Marciano cellar, while Vernaccia di San Gimignano is crafted in line with Italian wine laws, showcasing their commitment to quality and tradition.
