About the Winery

La Torre has been active in the area since 1925 and is today run by Lorenzo Pasini and Barbara Gargano, fourth-generation winemakers from a historic family in Calvagese della Riviera that has owned agricultural land since the mid-1400s. The winery is located just a few minutes’ drive from the shores of Lake Garda.

Certified organic since 2020—after nearly 15 years of integrated agriculture—La Torre has always focused primarily on the vinification of native grape varieties, above all, Groppello di Mocasina, a very rare local grape grown on fewer than 40 hectares nationwide.

The wines mature naturally for at least one year before bottling. At La Torre, the use of chemicals is strictly avoided, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. To protect and enrich the soil, only alternating rows of vines are mowed, allowing a wide variety of herbs and flowers to flourish and support insect life. The soil is further loosened and nourished through the careful sowing of clover and other plants, and later in the year, with the help of sheep grazing among the vines.

Through their holistic, agroecological approach, Lorenzo and Barbara view the vineyard as a self-sustaining ecosystem, where wine—together with plants and animals—exists in harmony with nature.

At first glance, the vineyard may appear slightly untamed, but this apparent wildness is a sign of exceptional vitality. Its health is evident not only in the quality of the grapes but also in the distinctive character and flavor of the wines.
