About the Winery
Founded in 1958 by brothers Eligio and Claudio Bonomo, Monte del Frà winery has deep roots in the Veronese winemaking tradition. The estate, originally cultivated by the Friars of Santa Maria della Scala in 1492, is now managed by the next generation: Marica, Massimo, and Silvia Bonomo. With a philosophy of "extreme high quality in a glass to celebrate life every day," Monte del Frà has introduced its fine wines to over fifty countries worldwide.
Located on the rolling hills surrounding Lake Garda, shaped by glaciers and benefiting from a Mediterranean climate, Monte del Frà represents the best of Verona's regional wines, including Custoza, Lugana, Valpolicella, and Soave. Our commitment to sustainable viticulture and innovative winemaking practices ensures that every bottle is elegant, refined, and well-balanced. Welcoming
Horseback ride through the vineyards and winery visit
Arriving through the characteristic and fantastic view of the Chardonnay and Custoza vineyards, we reached the winery where we found a very knowledgeable Marco waiting for us, who illustrated, explained, and told us about the winery: its history, its vision, its projects and current product offerings.
Accompanied by an excellent platter of cured meats and cheeses (exquisite), we tasted a full 5 wines from the winery! Welcomed right away with the Scianco sparkling wine, we continued with a glass of Lugana and one of Ca’ del Magro, very particular as it is a blend of 4 grapes and very recognizable as an olfactory and palatal signature.
Then we moved on to the reds: Ripasso di Valpolicella superiore (fresh red fruit and notes of wood that accompany but do not cover, balanced tannins) and to finish, Amarone Riserva, of which I cannot convey the fullness and perfection in the power/control balance.
As Marco says, a “Ferrari that is as comfortable as an SUV”.
Winery to recommend, wines I will buy again, and a horseback tour to do again! Well done everyone.
Perfect
Very welcoming staff,
We had a very good time also because it was a private tour, without other people.
I learned a few things on how to savor wine, enhancing its qualities.
Thank you
Keep it up
